There are openings at three libraries:

The 40,000 square feet Lakes Regional Library is one of 13 libraries that make up the Lee County Library System. With over 294,000 registered users and over 1.5 million items available to use or check out Lakes Regional is one of the busiest in the system. The loyalty of our patrons and the dedicated staff make this branch stand out. The location close to the islands of Estero, Sanibel and Captiva make this a destination spot.

The North Fort Myers Public Library was rebuilt in August 2019 with a new 25,000-square-foot facility serving North Fort Myers and surrounding communities. The North Fort Myers Library shares a campus with the North Fort Myers Recreation Center and is located between two large communities: Suncoast Estates and Paloma Park, as well as various active living communities.

The Riverdale Branch Library recently underwent a full-scale renovation reopening in April 2023. This newly redesigned 8,000 square foot building includes separate spaces for children and teens, a reimagined meeting room, and two outdoor reading spaces. The library is located within a rapidly growing community and serves patrons in Buckingham, Fort Myers Shores, Olga, Alva, Charleston Park and Lehigh Acres, as well as patrons in nearby Charlotte and Hendry counties.
• Perform the computerized, manual, and clerical duties necessary to the operations of the library.
• Provide excellent customer service at the circulation desk by issuing new library cards and checking in and out library materials.
• Update the patron database.
• Prepare circulation reports.
• Assist the public in utilizing library services by locating library materials and answering routine questions.
• Arrange books in their proper order on carts and alphabetize and numerically shelve materials in their proper locations.
• Operate a variety of equipment such as computers, self-check machines, automation equipment, photocopiers, and cash registers.
• Inspect condition of returned library materials.
• Order and maintain supplies and brochures.
• Collect fines and fees and prepare bank deposits.
• Locate and process reserved items for pick up.

Required Qualifications:
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent. and one year of fast-paced, professional customer service or closely related experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of education beyond high school is preferred.
• Three or more years of customer service experience is strongly preferred.
• Library experience is preferred.

• Spanish speaking is a plus.

Library Processing is adjacent to the East County Regional Library in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Staff at Library Processing provide centralized technical services such as the selecting, ordering, receiving, cataloging, and processing of materials, administering the library’s ILS (Polaris), Interlibrary Loan, and transferring of library materials to our 13 branches.

The expected hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $86,000 per year. An offer will be made within this range based on competencies, experience, and internal equity.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Leads, trains, develops and evaluates assigned staff including the Cataloging Librarian, Cataloging Library Associates, and the ILS Training and Support Librarian.
• Serves as System Administrator and point of contact for the library’s ILS and OPAC, which includes managing settings, configurations, third-party integrations, inventory, and upgrades to ensure efficient, reliable, and responsive functionality.
• Oversees the Cataloging department, including quality control, import and withdrawal of records, and the application of professional cataloging standards. .

The Housing Resources Coordinator is responsible for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive outreach and retention plan to increase rental options in the private rental market.

Will assist participating households to secure affordable housing. The Housing Resources Coordinator will assist with housing search and placement, housing inspections, and landlord negotiations.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain an outreach campaign to increase affordable housing in the private rental market. Will require established communication and relationships with landlords and property owners.
• Identifies appropriate housing for homeless individuals and families and maintains a database of available housing in Lee County.
• Communicates housing availability and openings to the homeless team in an efficient and timely manner.
• Acts as a landlord / case manager liaison regarding concerns or questions.
• Completes and documents HUD Housing Quality Inspections (HQS) to meet all applicable Federal and local regulations, laws and standards that ensures sanitary, safe and decent housing for clients.
• Provides housing stabilization services to households at imminent risk of homelessness.
• Assists landlords with the application process to becoming a Lee County Vendor. Will also complete all required paperwork to ensure rental contract execution, rent reasonableness, environmental, and lead based paint requirements.
• Develop and provide trainings and workshops for clients including tenant rights and responsibilities and fair housing.
• Interface with landlords whenever necessary to mitigate issues or advocate for participants.

Description

The purpose of this class within the organization is to provide high-level oversight of fiscal activities for a department, function or division.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitors billing; obtains/verifies demographics for proper billing; authorizes adjustments and write-offs; responds to requests for information from agencies.
• Processes contract payment requests for Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) verifying compliance with contract terms and resolving issues; prepares journal entries; processes purchase orders and contract requests and processes vendor invoices for payment for departmental CIP, major maintenance projects, and operational budget.
• Provides council on operating budget; processes employee reimbursements expenses, handles verification, and monitors departmental expenditures.
• Prepares operating budget within the time frame and under the guidelines required by County Administration; works with section managers on preparing their annual spending plans that make up their departmental budget; identifies budget carryovers at year-end.
• Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, contracts, and quarterly reports; supervises an administrative support staff; enters/verifies employee work hours into timekeeping system; enters schedule changes and closes payroll at pay period end.
• Acts as financial point-of-contact on all specific revenue streams and expenditures, including local and state grants.
• Reconciles and researches contracts, change orders, and supplemental task authorization for expiration dates, additional funds, additional task update and provides reports to management.
• Prepares and reviews purchase orders, contract, and change orders for the department; ensures the department follows sound fiscal policies and procedures.
• Depending on assignment, may include supervisory based duties.
• Monitors and finalizes agenda items for Board approval; includes obtaining information to include in the report, routing for review and recording in the software.

The key candidate will have knowledge of collections development and maintenance for children and teens, an effective communication style, the ability to think independently and with a team, basic knowledge and skills of current technologies, handle the timecards for subordinate staff, and assist in developing paraprofessional staff.

The Youth Services Librarian is the first librarian of 3 that acts as Manager on Duty ensuring the normal operations of the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide stellar customer service by assisting patrons of all ages using Library resources and services, including computers, electronic resources, reference, and readers’ advisory.

This is specialized technical work in investigating and enforcing County ordinances. Description

The Homeless Outreach Coordinator will identify and engage with unsheltered homeless individuals and families, connecting them with emergency shelter, housing, critical services and providing them with urgent, non-facility-based care. Outreach work is designed to develop trusting relationships to enhance access to services necessary to secure and maintain permanent housing.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Actively seeks and identifies unsheltered individuals and families within the community.
• Community includes congregate sites, streets and general public locations that are outside the walls of agencies and facilities.
• Will require multiple engagements building trust and relationships.
• May include homeless encampments when requested by law enforcement.
• Will respond to community requests for street outreach intervention.
• Will establish and maintain relationships with Lee Health, jail re-entry programs, law enforcement, Lee County Schools, local non-profit service providers, faith-based organizations and the local business community to create a broad referral network.
• Conducts individual assessments using Lee County's Coordinated Entry System in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for a referral to the most appropriate housing and services resources based on the individual's eligibility, vulnerability and needs.
• Ensures successful linkages to appropriate community resources, mainstream programs and housing opportunities.
• Assist clients with securing necessary documents and services such as identification cards, birth certificate, reinstatement of social security and food stamps.
• This position will be responsible for driving to locations throughout the county.

Education, Experience, Licensing
• Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in Human Services, Social Sciences, or related field and two years of human services, social services, or related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Science or related field is preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

• Comfortable interacting with the homeless population in informal settings.
• An understanding of harm-reduction and housing first principles.
• Ability to create a compassionate, patient and empowering connection with highly marginalized and homeless populations, including individuals with mental health and substance abuse concerns.
• Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and use effective problem solving skills.
• Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
• The work days and hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with occasional weekends
• This position will require being outside in all types of weather.
