GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Assistant Town Manager for Finance, performs a variety of administrative and
technical work in the development, administration, and analysis of Town and department budgets.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinates and oversees the annual budget development process for the Capital and Operating budgets.
Prepares municipal personal service budgets and assists departments in developing expense budgets.
Reviews departmental budget requests for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with procedures and
guidelines; and compiles consolidated budget.
• Prepares budget documents, supporting materials and presentations for staff meetings, Financial Summit
meetings and Select Board budget hearings; provides staff support to Town Finance committees.
• Maintains and updates the Wdesk software used for budget development including templates, forms,
workflows, user access and permissions.
• Regularly monitors annual budgets throughout the fiscal year once they have been approved and adopted
by the Town. Assists the Town Accountant with Budget loads and adjustments in the Munis General
Ledger.
• Responds to finance and budget related inquiries and requests from staff, management, and the public.
• Analyzes financial and budget related matters and conducts research as necessary. Compiles data from
statistical studies and budget analysis, maintains database of budget history, and develops multi-year
forecasts of revenues and expenditures in order to assist in budget preparation and analysis. Provides
analytical support for the development and review of programs and policies affecting the budget.
• Prepares quarterly and year-end budget reports for senior management, program administrators, boards,
and committees to depict rates of spending versus budget and identify potential budget problems.
• Provides and reviews budget numbers for Town Meeting warrants and motions and may assist with
budget data during Town Meeting.
• Reviews and keeps current on new or revised laws and regulations related to finance, accounting and
reporting that may affect the Town.
• Performs special projects and other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.
• Regular attendance at the workplace is required. Attendance at public meetings outside of normal
business hours is occasionally required. This position is eligible to participate in the Town's remote work
policy after an initial 6-month probationary period.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in public administration, business or a finance related discipline, and three (3) to Five (5) years

American Revolutionary history to serve as part-time guides.

Guides are needed weekends in April and May, and daily Memorial Day through the end of
October on a flexible schedule. Guides will also have the opportunity to conduct private Charter
tours throughout the season and limited hours may be available November-March. Guides will
be required to dress in colonial clothing, provided by the Liberty Ride, and accompany visitors
to historic sites throughout Lexington and Concord while explaining local American
Revolutionary historic events aboard the Liberty Ride trolley.

Experienced guides or narrators with a knowledge of American colonial history are preferred. A
background in theatre is welcomed. All guides must be 16 or older, responsible, courteous,
punctual and have clear articulation in speech. Availability to respond to scheduling changes on
short notice with easy transport to the workplace is a plus. A script and training will be
provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Greet visitors, provide information about Lexington's revolutionary history and its historic sites.
Promote Visitors Center tour offerings.
• Help create visually pleasing merchandise displays and promote the sale of retail merchandise.
• Assist with inventory management and financial reporting.
• Conduct new product research and assist with the purchase of merchandise; attend wholesale
shows; develop vendor relationships.
• Help develop monthly staffing schedules, monitor staffing needs, and help maintain
payroll/timesheets.
• Assist in the training of staff associates on the POS system, sales techniques, product
information, inventory stocking, and visitor services. Monitor staff performance.
• Work with the Visitors Center Manager to promote Lexington's programs and tour offerings to the
local, national, and international hospitality community. This community may include, but is not
limited to, hotel concierges, tour operators, corporate entities, visitor and convention bureaus,
online sites, local businesses, and Lexington residents.
• Collaborate with the Visitors Center Manager on a variety of marketing efforts designed to
increase public awareness of Visitors Center programs, tours, and offerings. These may include,
but are not limited to, social media, advertising, public relations, trade shows, and special events.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
An Associate's Degree with a minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience and 1-3 years of retail
experience.
Bachelor's degree preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:
• Revolutionary history relating to pertinent sites/events in and around Lexington and Concord.
• Operate computer/POS software necessary for performing assigned duties.
• Effective customer service techniques and principles of hospitality.

• Provide a variety of tourist services, i.e. suggest sample itineraries, make dining and lodging
recommendations, etc.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and maintain effective working
relationships.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
• Take a leadership role as needed or in the absence of the Visitors Center Manager.
• Effectively handle an environment which involves close contact with coworkers and the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
All work is performed in-person in a fast-paced environment. Work is subject to frequent interruptions
with demands that may require immediate response. Noise level may be elevated at times. Work
generally includes physical activities such as moving, reaching, pulling, grasping, bending, and
transporting materials and other items (of 50 pounds or less) around the office. Use of phones,
computers, and other types of small equipment is required for this position. Must be able to remain in
a stationery position for long periods of time.

The Town of Lexington is currently hiring for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. Minimum
qualifications for hire include: MA registered EMT-Paramedic (at time of hire)*, valid class D
driver's license, and passing a written exam** to be scheduled after an interview. Candidates
with pro board certification in Firefighter I & II will be given preference.

The Lexington Fire Department is a progressive full-time career department that provides fire
suppression, hazardous condition mitigation, emergency medical services at the advanced life
support level, and community based fire prevention activities.

The present wage for a Firefighter/Paramedic is $68,817.73 (including hazmat and paramedic
stipends), plus eleven paid holidays, education stipends, and paid vacation and sick leave.

As a condition of employment, qualified candidates will be subject to a background
investigation, pre-employment physical exam including drug test and physical abilities test
(PAT), and a psychological exam.
