GRS Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LMRe) at Liberty Mutual is a $700M business, and is seeking an experienced, self-driven Software Engineer to join our GRS LMRe US Tech team, with significant opportunity to collaborate with our global teams. You will be responsible for the implementation of solutions that support US technology operations and long-term strategies.

Responsibilities
• Full Stack development: with a high visibility, high performing team to drive the modernization of internal Reinsurance systems (Underwriting and Claims)
• Product Support: you will play a key role in providing daily product support, to include data fixes, defects, application updates, application enhancements, tech upgrades
• Collaborative partner: Working side-by-side with LM Reinsurance business colleagues and interacting with customers, you’ll address their technical challenges and ensure quality through collaborative discovery, design, development, and test
• Problem solver: Complex problems often require innovative, creative approaches? you will work to come up with outside-the-box solutions to solve them.
• Customer-centric developer: You understand our stakeholders and the products you develop will keep the end-user front and center.

Qualifications

Technical & Education
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, computer science preferred
• 5-8+ years of Software Engineering experience, including but not limited to Spring Boot, Angular, Python, JavaScript, JUnit
• Extensive experience working in an Agile environment utilizing Scrum and Kanban, understanding of backlog tracking and incremental delivery
• Experience with relational databases (Liquibase/ SQL Server/ PostgreSQL) and writing and debugging SQL queries
• Experience with CI/CD processes and tools (Bamboo), GIT and DevOps principles
• An ability to code in multiple languages, including an object-oriented language, preferably Java
• Solid understanding of cloud technologies (AWS) & architecture patterns (serverless, microservice, API, event-driven)
• Solid programming discipline: unit testing, fault tolerance, data structures, complexity analysis, object-oriented principles, design patterns, etc.
• Demonstrated success in platform modernization initiatives
• Demonstrate competence in debugging, testing code, analyzing defects
• A comprehensive understanding of technology concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards.
• Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies and technical standards, security, and privacy policies

In This Role You Will
• Fully own and execute on assigned state’s implementation of the latest Auto & Specialty Pricing Program launches.
• As subject matter expert for assigned states, serves as the point person to complete state implementations for basic states with minimal supervision or complex states with moderate supervision.
• Queries data to conduct ad hoc analysis of metrics, and manipulates and understands the data to tell a story and answer question at hand
• Provides thoughtful recommendations to key stakeholders (namely Director of State Operations and State Team) on pricing, strategy, filing etc.
• Provides analysis to help support business decisions; where necessary, conducts in depth research of competitor offerings and filings
• Provides recommendations to training and processes to manager/mentor, with an eye to continued process improvement. May begin creating and updating training materials.
• Takes an active role in onboarding and asking questions to gain complete understanding of the rollout process

We Are Looking For a Candidate Who Has
• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field.
• Minimum 2 years, typically 3 years or more of relevant experience.
• If applicable, completion of product development program.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (e.g., SAS, Access).
• Must have proficient planning, organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skills.
