• What You’ll Do*
The Audience Development Specialist’s core responsibility is to identify, develop, and grow the reach of our brands to support new and repeat business in the form of online course registrations, subscription sales, and more. Success in this role will depend largely upon the ability to identify, grow, and engage audiences in the library and education ecosystem to drive engagement, including public, school, and academic library professionals, educators and school administrators, state and regional library associations, and other community stakeholders as deemed appropriate.
• Business development & Community Engagement
• Research, develop, and execute strategies to attract new purchasers of multi-user subscriptions and professional development courses in support of sales function.
• Work with the marketing team to communicate key learnings and trends to drive additional business and engagement.
• Coordinate and communicate with events and subscriptions team members and partners to ensure products and offers are accurate.
• Monitor websites, digital channels, and print ads to ensure all products and offers are advertised accurately and in accordance with the marketing plan.
• Meet or exceed goals, targets, and initiatives as set forth by Marketing Director.
• Conduct job functions and activities in alignment with the principles of MSI’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work, ensuring presence of these goals in marketing and audience outreach.
• Promotions:
• Work with the marketing team to create promotional outreach/inbound marketing initiatives for each line of business.
• Ensure equitable access and inclusive messaging across group sales and audience development outreach.
• Assist in the development of marketing and sales collateral to help boost outreach and grow partnerships.
• Collaborate between external partners and internal stakeholders to support group sales initiatives.
• Research and Reporting
• Monitor and report achievement of monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals.
• Track contacts by segment, event type, and other categories as defined and develop/report on strategies to engage target audiences.
• Research/monitor the competitive landscape of group sales initiatives and community/industry partnerships.
• Key Qualifications: *
• Three years’ experience in marketing/sales with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding goals for audience development.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong verbal, written, and listening ability.
• Strong organization and strategic thinking skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-work environment with sensitive company information.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA preferred.

The Audience Development Specialist is a part of the LJ/SLJ/HB marketing department, reporting to the Marketing Director. This position will work directly with the leader of group sales, and other stakeholders in the area of professional development. This role is open to remote candidates that are available to work during Eastern Standard business hours (8-hour shifts between 8:00am-6:00pm) and currently employ legal residents of the following states: CT, FL, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, UT, WA. The book room staff support that... work by entering PDFs of new books into our virtual book room, mailing out review copies from our physical book room, and entering review assignments.

Primary role and responsibilities:
Support Library Journal and School Library Journal s reviews teams: enter review assignments and new reviewer information into internal database; work with reviewers to verify data and troubleshoot review submissions; communicate with publishers and track requests; provide monthly data for reports.
Maintain physical and virtual book rooms: sort books by genre/subject, format, and editor. Enter PDFs into a SharePoint database/and on spreadsheets; pull books and mail to reviewers; discard books based on publication date; keep databases accurate and current.
Manage mail: accept, sort, and process incoming and outgoing mail, including book arrivals; pack, address, and meter outgoing mail and shipment; manage packing and pickup of books for donation.
Upload cover images to CMS
Organize files in multi-layered file management system/run reports.
Other duties as assigned.

Primary skills:
Responsible, reliable, and detail oriented.
Confident with technology, web platforms, and databases; experience working across a variety of digital platforms.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to follow set procedures/written directions through complicated file management systems
Familiarity with Windows network environment.
Ability to work independently.
Familiarity with publishing and/or book terminology (for example: knowing what an ISBN is) is a plus.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.

Each book room assistant will work 18 hours per week, including at least one, perhaps two, eight-hour days of on-site work. There are three open positions. We request that all new employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have a religious or medical accommodation.
