Job Description

We're looking for an HR Information Analyst to support the workforce analytics and data analysis needs of Human Resources and the Laboratory. You will develop sound and professionally defensible analyses and projections by identifying, joining, and analyzing disparate data sets for issues that cross human resource disciplines and require the development of new approaches or techniques. This position is in the HR Operations Service Center – Workforce Analytics & Metrics and Service Support group.

Telecommuting options are available for this position.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will
• Provide analysis and analytical support to address a wide variety of problems and solutions where the data is available but may need some clarification.
• Follow established methods and techniques for building and implementing workforce demographic, and other models or studies which require utilization of predictive modeling software and techniques including R and Excel with a goal of obtaining accurate multi-year projections.
• Perform analysis and compile large quantities of data with multiple factors and criteria from various databases/sources; create formal and ad hoc reports.
• Perform monthly audit/reconciliation between HR source system and the HR Business Intelligence system (HRBI), resolving basic to moderately complex issues identified by working with subject matter experts and developers.
• Assist programmers on system set-up of new/revised programs.
• Present analysis and make reporting recommendations to the Workforce Analytics & Metrics (WAM) team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the H07.3 level
• Provide analytic support by analyzing a variety of factors to develop solutions for complex problems and solutions that are multi-faceted in scope requiring research and interpretation.
• Present analysis and make reporting recommendations to management.
• Plan, schedule and manage the implementation, maintenance and administration of new, recurring, and ad hoc processes or programs, including but not limited to, workforce reviews, ad hoc HR reporting, and ad hoc surveys.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related computer field or quantitative field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience applying HR practices, regulatory requirements, techniques, standards, processes, and systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience applying analytical concepts, software, and data analysis tools to analyze issues using data-based evidence.
• Experience with data mining, predictive modeling and projection methodologies, and techniques using predictive modeling software such as R and Excel.
• Experience extracting and analyzing data necessary to develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases containing advanced formulas and functions.
• Experience with decision making and problem solving that requires mature judgment, discretion, and tact to assist in resolving issues and developing solutions.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, necessary to effectively communicate results and prepare documentation and reports.

• Advanced knowledge and experience applying HR practices, regulatory requirements, techniques, standards, processes, and systems as it pertains to HR reporting, data, and application research.
• Significant experience applying analytical concepts, software, and data analysis tools using PeopleSoft (or similar HRIS system) to research, interpret, analyze, compile, and present workforce data and information.

Job Description

We have an opening for a Security Police Sergeant. Under general supervision, you will provide first-line supervision, training and instruction to Security Police Officers (SPOs) that work under a collective bargaining agreement. You may be required to work either day or owl shift at either LLNL’s Main Site or at Site 300. This position is in the Protective Force Division (PFD) within the Security Organization.

Pay Range:
• $45.75 - $57.74 Hourly (655.2)

In this role you will
• Supervise and direct SPOs, which includes personnel and performance management including ensuring SPO training is current; preparing performance appraisals, approving vacation requests, reviewing timecards to verify hours worked by SPOs and appropriate Project and Task codes, and authorizing corrections.
• Supervise all shift operations including, but not limited to, roll call, unusual occurrences on site, emergency response, and limited scope performance testing.
• Supervise uniform, vehicle and work area inspections to identify potential unsafe conditions and provide resolutions, ensure environmental, safety and health standard compliance, and investigate complaints from customers and recommend appropriate course of action.
• Develop staff schedules to ensure staffing requirements are met; summon off-duty support when staffing shortages occur.
• Review Department of Energy (DOE)/LLNL/Security Organization/PFD orders, policies and procedures, Security Police Officers' Association collective bargaining agreement and work rules to keep abreast of ever-changing requirements to ensure subordinate employees meet these requirements.
• Oversee loading/unloading of firearms to ensure procedures are adhered to and safety requirements are met.

Initiate, prepare and review various reports, documents, rosters, auditable records, and correspondence.
• Respond to Laboratory-wide emergencies and provide incident command to ensure safety and security of SPOs and Laboratory employees; brief and supervise SPO assessment teams; brief outside law enforcement agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Associate’s degree in a security-related field or equivalent levels of related education and experience in security, military, or law enforcement.
• Ability to successfully complete the DOE Basic Security Police Officer Training certification; ability to successfully complete and maintain the DOE Basic
• Readiness Standard, a comprehensive medical exam including a multi-state cardiovascular assessment and psychological evaluation and the National Training Center Tactical Response Force-1 (TRF-100); ability to maintain all mandated medical, physical fitness, firearms and training requirements/qualifications, under the general guidelines of Federal regulations and DOE orders.
• Broad knowledge of protective force security operations, policies and procedures, and the application of individual and small team tactics.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills with experience identifying and researching alternatives or solutions to obstacles.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary to supervise and effectively present information in both written and oral formats; effective team building, motivational and organization skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive issues with tact, discretion, and maturity required that demonstrate an ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and to apply mature judgment when dealing with routine and non-routine personnel issues.

Site 300

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).

Job Description

We have an opening for a Health Physicist. You will provide comprehensive health physics (HP) support to various LLNL programs as well as provide support and guidance to other ES&H team members in the area of HP. This position is in the Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate.

• Provide HP solutions to LLNL programs in specific areas of assignment including but not limited to: establishing appropriate personnel dosimetry, bioassay, and whole-body counting programs and evaluating the results of these monitoring programs; evaluating and providing radiation safety input to safety procedures and to facility, equipment, and shielding designs.
• Anticipate, identify, and evaluate HP-related hazardous conditions and practices to protect personnel from the effects of ionizing radiation through knowledge of engineering and science. Develop, evaluate, and implement policies, procedures, codes, and standards.
• Conduct building inspections to identify and evaluate potential hazards related to HP and provide guidance for analyzing such hazards.
• Provide guidance to LLNL Programs on all matters related to radiation protection.
• Provide feedback to management regarding the effectiveness of the radiation safety program in their areas of responsibility.
• Provide oversight to the health and safety technicians on HP sampling, discipline action plan duties, and program concerns related to health physics; develop HP Discipline Action Plan (DAP) for area(s) assigned.
• Review sample results and make applicable recommendations to the program to control associated hazards.
• Provide selected training in radiation safety to personnel in the assigned area. Develop and present safety courses in HP or related topics.

We have an opening for a Chief of Operations for Space Science and Security (SSS) within Z Program (Intelligence Program) in the Global Security (GS) Principal Associate Directorate (PAD). Z Program’s mission is to apply the complete set of LLNL’s science and technology capabilities to support the Intelligence Community (IC) in overcoming its most difficult challenges. As Chief of Space Operations, you will work collaboratively with the Space Program Leader (PL) on the leadership, management, and oversight of all operational aspects of Space Program mission space. Job Description

We have an opening for a Computer Support Technologist. You will perform secure communications custodian responsibilities for the primary LLNL Communications Security (COMSEC) Account. You will serve as the secure communications point-of-contact for the Laboratory which involves supporting cryptographic equipment, message transmittal/receipt in the Secure Communications Center, and perform duties as a Classified Administrative Specialist (CAS). This position is in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) Division within the Computing Directorate, in support of the LivIT program.

This position will be filled at either the 525.2 or 525.3 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will
• Conduct individual software upgrades to viper phones and establish centralized software support for vipers across the site to include maintaining computers and networking equipment to centrally manage viper software and configurations.
• Provide technical support to classified and unclassified Video Teleconferencing Centers.
• Conduct Communications Security (COMSEC) support for the LLNL site COMSEC account and take all required training.
• Provide support in the control and inventory of COMSEC equipment and materials assigned to the Secure Communications Center’s account, including assisting with the semi-annual and annual COMSEC inventories and DOE audits.

We have multiple openings for Data Scientists with expertise in Uncertainty Quantification to join a vibrant team supporting multiple missions across LLNL, including applications in biology, physics, and space programs. The mission of WDTS is to help ensure that Department of Energy (DOE) and the Nation have a sustained pipeline of highly skilled and diverse science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workers. This is accomplished partly by support of undergraduate internships and faculty programs.

The DOE and Office of Science encourages undergraduate students and for students who have received their Bachelor's degree and have not begun graduate studies to pursue STEM careers by providing research experiences at the DOE National Laboratories. Selected faculty and students perform research, under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers, on projects related to ongoing programs.

This includes the following programs:
• Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI)
• Community College Internship (CCI)
• Visiting Faculty Program Student (VFP-S)

In this role you will
• Complete the full 10-13 week program (based on Summer term).
• Under close supervision, you will participate in research in assigned area.
• Complete the entrance and exit surveys through the online system provided at the beginning and the end of the internship.
• Make an oral or poster presentation on the outcome of their research activities.
• Complete and submit a research project report.
• Submit an abstract of their research in the required format.
• Submit a one-page peer review of another intern’s talk or poster.
• Attend all scheduled events including lectures, tours and group activities.
• Students should expect to spend approximately 40 hours a week working on their research projects or participating in the provided professional development opportunities
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Notification of acceptance into one of the Office of Science Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) programs.

$148,650 - $200,328 Annually for the SES.3 level

$178,410 - $240,384 Annually for the SES.4 level

Job Description

We have an opening for an experienced Network Security Engineer - R&D with a background in network security and an emphasis on operational technology networks. You will contribute to, provide subject matter expertise, and lead research projects in the area of cybersecurity for critical infrastructure systems and civilian networks. This position is in Global Security Computing Applications Division (GS-CAD) of the Computing Directorate, matrixed to the Global Security Directorate.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will
• Lead interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers on relevant national security projects and oversee analysis of OT and IT network data to identify potential vulnerabilities and indicators of compromise.
• Pursue program development opportunities by co-authoring proposals and proposing ideas that will address sponsor needs. Identify program growth opportunities towards development of custom network scanning and characterization tools for OT environments.
• Present results and provide subject matter expertise across multi-discipline projects engaging with sponsors on a regular basis.
• Test and validate new OT network characterization tools, working with LLNL’s cyber-physical testbed team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the SES.4 level
• Oversee growth of existing and development of new network security capabilities at LLNL.
• Identify new applications and opportunities for network security capability growth and help create vision and technical direction in thrust area, working with program leadership.
• Develop new program growth opportunities through interactions with current and potential sponsors and the development of research proposals.

Qualifications
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Significant experience with at least one Programing Language (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python).
• Advanced proficiency using network packet analysis tools (e.g., tcpdump, wireshark, tshark, libpcap), doing network protocol analysis at various layers of the OSI model, and developing network analytics.
• Project leadership experience and ability to work independently while effectively managing concurrent technical tasks with competing priorities.
• Experience writing research proposals and securing sponsor funding, with advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment, present and explain technical information, and provide advice to management.

Additional qualifications at the SES.4 level
• Subject matter expert understanding of and experience with control systems, OT and ICS/SCADA security, communication network protocol development and parsing, reverse engineering, and/or modeling.
• Expert ability to communicate comprehensive knowledge effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and to non-cyber experts and proficient interpersonal skills necessary to effectively collaborate and lead in a team environment

Qualifications We Desire
• PhD in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field .
• Experience with Incident Response and threat hunting.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with one or more of the following: Penetration testing or red teaming, malware analysis, protocol dissectors and decoders, configuring and maintaining network sensors, and/or configuring and deploying network SIEM solutions.
