Role Overview:

Deliver the provision of services within Operations LC Trade team to support the activities of the North American Trade & Working Capital business. Deliver a high quality service to customers in line with agreed service standards, and ensuring all processes, policies and controls are adhered to.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for delivering a broad range of operational activities below ensuring in all cases, compliance to agreed policies, procedures and LBCM protocols regarding credit and legal approval.
• Confirmed understanding of the methods and practices involved in issuing and amending bilateral LCs, advising, confirming, negotiating and examination of documents drawn under them.
• Ensure credit approval and facility limits are in place prior to extending credit in the issuance and booking of LCs.
• Understand and apply legal and regulatory requirements such as anti-boycott regulations, OFAC, money laundering, red flag indicators, etc.
• Validated knowledge of the International Chamber of Commerce publications UCP600 and ISP98, and the Revised Uniform Commercial Code, Article 5 covering the rules and laws for letters of credit.
• Work closely with the Team Manager, internal partners, clients and beneficiaries as needed to structure sophisticated LCs.
• Confirmed knowledge of SWIFT Category 7 messages
• Act as point of reference for more fast paced technical and procedural issues, ensuring that the information provided is clearly understood, and advancing issues as appropriate.
• Actively build and support relationships with key customers, colleagues and peers to obtain/exchange information, identify and implement standard processes and where appropriate identify customer's future requirements.
• Assist in coordinating the timely and accurate production of management and financial reporting as related to LCs.
• Contribute to the review, design, development and specification of new/redesigned processes, systems, information, documentation and supporting materials, ensuring that consultation with customers and other teams have been undertaken to ensure that their requirements are fully understood and met.
• Assist in handling assignments and projects, implementing procedures relating to specialist/operational policies/products/services ensuring all changes are fully communicated and understood by all affected parties.
• Assist in the training, coaching and development of junior team members to maintain customer service standards, enabling staff to acquire the specialist skills needed to perform their role in a changing professional/legal environment.
• Responsible for knowing, understanding, and aligning with all LBCM and jurisdictional regulations that apply to their job (details of such rules and regulations can be obtained from one's supervisor and/or Local Compliance Dept).
• Responsible for reporting to the Chief Operating Officer or Risk Officer any non-compliance with LBCM or governmental rules or regulations that may come to the employee's attention in the course of their employment.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
• Ideally 5+ years knowledge of and experience working with LCs of various types (i.e. Standby and Commercial) and familiarity with trade finance.
• Ability to extract pertinent credit provisions from master-reimbursement agreements and internal documentation as applicable to issuing LCs and coordinating their booking by the Banking Operations function.
• Validated understanding of internal credit application and process.
• Knowledge of collateral management.

Key skills and knowledge:
• Self-motivated, takes initiative and has the ability to delegate, efficiently coordinate, multi-task and prioritize a wide array of initiatives, with an interest in innovation
• Ability to thrive in high pressure situations and to meet due dates whilst maintaining a clear focus on attention to detail.

This position is in the CIC department, working with the respective Sector Head. Sector includes Industrials, Aerospace and Defense and Technology, Media and Telecoms.

Business
• Report to and support Sector Head in the management and service (administrative & client related activities) of the client portfolio

About the role:

Working in our exciting Consumer Credit Decisioning Lab, you will lead other Software Engineers and work with our PO team and Risk customers, to design and deploy application and/or data solutions that underpin the financial stability of Lloyds Banking Group. Your technical expertise and insight will ensure the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards expected.

You'll use a variety of Modern Engineering practices and toolsets to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect.

So, what experience & skills do I need to apply?

It would be essential to have the following:
• Strong application or data development background, ideally with experience of developing solutions in JAVA Springboot.
• Knowledge of modern software development practices - ideally this would include Cloud hosting (GCP), Containers, Kubernetes; API's, DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery and Google Cloud Tools such as Big Query
• Proven understanding of the full software development lifecycle
• Experience of working as part of an agile team using agile practices and tooling such as Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, as well as experience in the traditional Fastpath projects
