Job Summary
The Governance Coordinator supports the CEO and Deputy Executive Vice President in the governance of the organization, particularly as related to ASSH Council members, Committee members, and other Hand Society volunteers. This position reports to the Deputy Executive Vice President and the Chief Executive Officer and requires the ability to work autonomously as this role is not part of a defined team.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain the governance calendar and ensure that all processes start and end on time
• Provide administrative support to the CEO and Deputy EVP. These duties will include basic administrative tasks including but not limited to coordinating schedules, organizing expense reports, assisting with committee meetings and support, organizing historical records, etc.
• Council Applications – Manage applications for open Council positions, and support the Nominations Committee in the process of selecting nominees for Council positions
• Committee Applications – Manage committee applications and term renewal requests, and support the Committee Advisory Group (CAG) in determining the committee structure year to year
• Young Leaders Program – Manage applications, and support the selection committee in determining each year’s class of Young Leaders
• Annual Meeting VIP Events – Work with the President to determine the President’s Dinner and Council Reception guest lists, design and send invitations, collect RSVPs and dietary restrictions for the venues, communicate details to attendees, and work with the ASSH Meetings Team on related tasks
• Support the Meetings Team in Annual Meeting tasks as needed
• Council and Executive Committee Meetings – Prepare compiled agenda materials for distribution, communicate meeting details to participants, take meeting minutes, collect and configure attendee expenses for reimbursement, and send post-meeting evaluations and gather responses

• Chicago, IL as part of a hybrid work environment with 2 days in the office per week
Travel Requirements

· Receive and take guest orders, discuss menu options, ingredients, preparations, accurately secure payment, and process in a timely manner through Rye P.O.S. system.
· Preset service areas with all necessary condiments, plates, and ensure guests have proper utensils to consume ordered items. Maintain cleanliness of service areas.
· Prepare all beverages for the restaurant and bar, IRD and other revenue centers as requested. Assist in batching cocktails and other bulk beverage items.
· Punches in/out for breaks daily, report back to work on time, fills out appropriate payroll sheets & “tip out” sheets, and notifies manager if leaving the floor for an extended period of time, or taking a break.
· Immediately notify management or another team member if they feel that they need help, can not get to a guest or perform their tasks in a timely fashion.
· Greet all guests at bar and coffee station in under 2 minutes.
· Perform other restaurant and customer service related requests to guests with a hospitality first attitude.
· Open bottled wine, beer, champagne, and other bottled items for guests as requested.
· Perform setup and breakdown of bar and coffee station as outlined in daily/weekly side work & restocking chart.
· Follow uniform and appearance standards.
· Notify a manager, including the hotel Manager on Duty if a guest is becoming intoxicated or rude to other guests or other notable events during the shift.
· Secure proper ID to confirm customers ordering alcoholic beverages are over 21.
· Maintain up to date Food handlers and Bassett certifications.
· Be knowledgeable of web site based ordering system and be able to assist guests with and issues.
· Promote coffee consumption by educating customers; selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks.
· Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.
· Prepares and sells coffees and coffee drinks by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
· Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs and daily cleaning.
· Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
· Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
· Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, cocktail, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have detailed knowledge of cocktail ideation and creation techniques. · High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
