Public Health is an innovative new school committed to applying an
entrepreneurial philosophy of educational excellence, research, and

health sciences and the promotion of health equity. Parkinson
graduates put their knowledge and skills to work in the public,
private, and non-governmental organization sectors in areas such as
healthcare systems and services, public health, and
education.
Through four areas of study (Applied Health Sciences, Healthcare
Administration, Health Informatics and Data Science, and Public
Health Sciences), faculty teach, challenge, and mentor
undergraduate and graduate students, as well as career
professionals. We emphasize inter-disciplinary learning,
collaboration, and care for communities, while maintaining a focus
on better understanding all the social determinants of health. Our
faculty pursue a range of scholarly research that incorporates
systems- and design-thinking which translates into sustainable,
scalable solutions to advance knowledge and improve health and the
delivery of care.
Parkinson is the academic home for Loyola’s participation in the
Institute for Translational Medicine ( ITM ). The ITM is a Clinical
and Translational Science Award ( CTSA ) partnership between the
University of Chicago and Rush in collaboration with Advocate
Health Care, the Illinois Institute of Technology, Loyola
University Chicago, and NorthShore University Health System that is
fueled by almost $35 million in grants from the National Institutes
of Health ( NIH ) and its National Center for Advancing
Translational Sciences ( NCATS ). The ITM is part of the national
network of more than 60 NIH -supported CTSA sites working on
clinical informatics innovation and accelerating the time it takes
to develop and implement new treatments and health innovation into
practice.
There has never been a more important time to build a new
inter-disciplinary health sciences and public health school.
Parkinson faculty are called to develop the next generation of
healthcare leaders who will drive change and expand knowledge in
the service of humanity through learning, justice, and faith. Learn

Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago, College of Arts and Sciences, Department
of Fine and Performing Arts seeks qualified candidates for an
appointment as Lecturer in Photography and Video, beginning Fall
2023. The Department of Fine and Performing Arts’ Fine Arts
Division has 12 full-time faculty serving approximately 130
undergraduate art majors and is located on the university’s
Lakeshore Campus. For more information about the department, please
visit its web site at http://ww.luc.edu/dfpa .
Located on Chicago’s vibrantly multicultural North Side, LUC is
committed to creating an inclusive, responsive community of
faculty, students, and staff. As an urban-based Department of Fine
and Performing Arts dedicated to mentoring a diverse student body,
many of whom come from under-represented and under-served
populations, we especially encourage applications from candidates
from under-represented groups. We also encourage applications from
scholars committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with
colleagues across different subfields and disciplines) and the
successful pursuit of external grants.
The position includes teaching four undergraduate courses per
semester in photography and video within a liberal arts context.
The position also includes service obligations, such as
participating in Senior Capstone critiques, attending division and
departmental meetings, and managing some facilities and equipment.
The ideal candidate will assist in course design, development of
facilities, and acquisition of resources in order to integrate
instruction related to video, installation, and experimental
applications of lens-based media into the existing curriculum that
focuses primarily on still images (photography).
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Master of Fine Arts or equivalent
terminal degree from an accredited university, evidence of
successful college-level teaching experience in photography and
video, and a record of a studio practice with lens-based media.
Experience managing digital labs and equipment is also preferred.
We seek candidates whose teaching and creative practices are
grounded in contemporary art and interdisciplinarity. Candidates
should have the ability to teach various levels of undergraduate
digital photography courses that are informed by current technical
and conceptual approaches to art making with the medium. We are
particularly interested in candidates who also have experience in
teaching lens-based courses beyond photography, such as video art
and moving image. The candidate should be willing to support the
mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.

The candidate should be willing to support the
mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.

and diversifying our faculty. The University seeks to increase the
diversity of its professoriate, workforce and undergraduate and
