Statement of the Job:

The Technology Support Manager (TSM) is responsible for maintaining the functionality of all Chemical Engineering (CHE) laboratory course equipment and support for CHE research equipment as appropriate. The TSM will support technical service to FBRI research facilities, equipment and laboratories housed in the Technology Research Center (TRC) and/or Jenness Hall. The TSM will design, build and commission new equipment as appropriate.

The TSM will serve as the Safety Coordinator of Jenness Hall and the FBRI TRC and is responsible for Safety and Environmental Management (SEM) programs for all CHE laboratory and research areas and the TRC. The TSM is responsible for operator training and safety training for staff and students. In addition, the TSM will facilitate training by faculty/experts on specialized equipment for staff and students. The TSM will schedule shop equipment usage to ensure that personnel are trained and operate equipment safely. The TSM will serve as the Building Manager for Jenness Hall and the FBRI TRC. Typical hiring range for this position is $52,000 to $72,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:
• B.S. in a relevant engineering, engineering technology or applied scientific discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of relevant work experience.

Preferred:
• Some demonstrated successful industrial experience.
• Experience with machine tool operations (e.g. lathe, milling machine etc.), equipment electronics and process control, and pipefitting and process fluid plumbing.
• Experience in project planning.
• Experience in safety and environmental management.
• Demonstrated successful work experience in laboratory, industrial or pilot scale equipment maintenance, design, and construction.
• Experience with contract project work and client relationship building.
• Experience managing construction equipment operators or maintenance crews.
