The ideal candidate for the Senior Sterile Processing Tech position will be certified with a minimum of two years hospital-based sterile processing experience.

Location: Life Sciences Plaza

Shift: Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs duties and troubleshoots in all areas of sterile processing to include decontamination, assemble, sterilization of advanced instrumentation and equipment while adhering to the manufacturer and department guidelines. Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality. Operates and troubleshoots equipment. Maintains safety standards. Prepares case carts and delivers instrumentation to the operating room. Stocks operating room par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts.

Qualifications - External

EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program.

EXPERIENCE
Required: Two years hospital-based sterile processing experience. With preferred education, no experience required.

The ideal candidate will have a graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing, an RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support. (ACLS) certification. Prefer at 12 months RN experience in an emergency room setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Center Director/Department Chair Administrative Operations
• Manage the day-to-day administrative affairs of the Center Director/Department Chair's office for both institutional and extramural activities. Interacts with other institutional offices for the Department Chair involving activities or participation in institutional committees and programs maintaining close communication and staying abreast of changes in pertinent policies and procedures.

• Manage travel coordination for the Chair/Director; prepare the itinerary, confirm lodging and transportation, prepare, and organize materials in advance and process travel/business reimbursements.

• Plan and schedule meetings, conferences, and teleconferences. Provide supporting documents and information in preparation for scheduled appointments, meetings, speaking engagements, conferences, etc.

• Maintain an efficient flow of information among all levels of the Chair/Director's internal and external contacts. Responsible for maintaining confidential and sensitive information.

• Compose complex correspondence, often of a confidential nature, from basic information and route appropriately, draft memos and other official documentation on behalf of department chair.

• Uses independent judgment, strong interpersonal and communications skills and knowledge of institutional regulations, policies and procedures to analyze problems and make decisions affecting the Center/department.

• Attends meetings in the executive's absence and provides information on behalf of the executive.

• Serves on the Incident Command Center as a member of the emergency operations team.

Human Resources, Research Trainee Programs, and Faculty Affairs
• Manages the coordination for faculty recruitment, appointment, onboarding, promotion, self- assessments, performance reviews, conflict of interest and retirement/termination processes.

• Oversees the department's educational program to include coordinating Educational Agreement negotiations with educational entities through MD Anderson's Legal Services. Responsible for coordinating all educational appointments following appropriate policies and procedures.

• Works closely with the Chair and Director, Operations on all faculty-related issues.

• Serves as liaison with AVA- Trainee & Alumni Affairs, VISA, and other departments within the institution.

• Serves as back-up KRONOS timekeeper.

Department and Center Project Support
• Responsible for the preparation and administration of extramural grants and contracts. This is coordinated closely with the Director, Operations and Grant Program Coordinator.

• Participates in strategic planning activities.

• Coordinates institutional training initiatives.

• Oversee and maintain the Capital Equipment Database Inventory Data in coordination with the Supervisor, Campus Services.

• Assist as directed with departmental/divisional/institutional incentive and reward programs.

• Responsible for planning and arrangement of departmental functions, conferences, retreats, and meetings.

• Prepares pertinent institutional forms, travel requests and reimbursements, schedule meetings/lectures to include catering, brochure/poster preparation for printing, honorariums and travel expense.

• Coordination of other departmental projects and duties as assigned

• May provide direction or delegation for projects or tasks to other staff.

• Backup to other operations team members (program coordinators and administrative assistants) to help with various tasks including but not limited to
travel, calendar management, new employee processing, key and radio distribution, computer setup, Employee Performance Awards, etc.
