Key Responsibilities
50% Veteran & Military Education Benefit Certification
• Represent the university as a School Certifying Official for veteran and military education benefit programs.
• Process VA and military benefit intake survey submissions from incoming students. Verify student benefit entitlement. Record student VA/DoD and other benefit information in student information system and Excel spreadsheets.
• Review education records for course degree applicability, term registration, and tuition and fee costs.
• Receive verification from an academic advisor prior to submitting a certification as needed.
• Operationalizes the universitys VA compliance program via timely and accurate certifications to the VA and DoD. Manually calculate tuition and fee payments eligible to be paid by the VA as necessary.
• Monitor education benefit change reports to ensure information is up-to-date and in compliance with program regulations. Submit notification of non-punitive grades, registration changes, degree completion, and unsatisfactory progress to the VA.
• Notify students of the benefit impacts of receiving non-punitive grades and provide resources on how to reduce debt owed to the VA and/or OSU.

Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Veteran and Military Engagement Officer will lead outreach efforts to the military and veteran community within Washington State. Outreach will focus on maintaining existing networks and fostering new relationships using cold calling, digital methods, face-to-face, networking, event participation, etc. Working with the Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing, the Veteran and Military Engagement Officer coordinates and implements outreach strategies and activities to generate partnerships and enroll students. The officer will represent City University of Seattle to external constituents, especially the military community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for outreach and recruitment of military and veteran students into CityU academic programs.
• Team up with other university departments to identify potential outreach opportunities.
• Assist the marketing team with developing materials to promote programs and services to veteran and military students.
• Disseminate marketing materials to prospective and continuing students on and off campus, such as fairs/events, community agency meetings, and military-friendly organizations.
• Execute a phone campaign strategy that meets standard dials, text, and talk hours per day.
• Contact new prospective students within 24 hours of the first inquiry.
• Identify veteran and military populations; develop visitation schedules.
• Meet with prospective students to discuss university programs and answer questions concerning enrollment procedures, expectations, and financial options for attending CityU.
• Schedule and staff special events on and off-campus, including but not limited to orientations, open houses, group visits, and presentations for community organizations, military groups, and other potential school partners.
• Generate interest, applications, and enrollments from servicemen and women during outreach activities.
• Drive military outreach and business development activities to strengthen CityU's professional presence. Ensure successful inquiry generation, and that application and enrollment goals are met.
• Provide routine updates to leadership on outreach results and efforts and how they can be improved.
