Director, Imaging Services
Provides leadership, management, and administration of departmental operations and services to ensure accomplishment of objectives and strategies under the direction of the AVP of Ancillary services and hospital Executive Leadership team.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs, supervises, and coordinates all administrative functions and activities including practice standards and operational policies and procedures, in accordance with standards established by institutional, governmental, and other regulatory bodies.
- Monitors the effectiveness of the department's activities and departmental quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with all required protocols and regulations. Establishes service goals, identifies current problems affecting quality of service, and recommends service and process improvement initiatives utilizing cost-effective solutions and enhancements.
- Partners with senior leadership, clinical staff, and other key stakeholders to define the operational plan for the Radiology Department ensuring alignment with the hospitals mission, vision, values, and business goals.
- Serves as principal advisor and key resource to senior leadership, clinical staff and other appropriate parties on matters pertaining to radiologic services and handles departmental communications to internal and external parties managing the flow of information into and out of the department.
- Provides education and information on radiation safety protocols and prevention methods to clinical and nonclinical staff, community members, patients and caregivers in line with governing agencies/bodies.
- Manages staffing needs and provides orientation, training, and guidance to staff to support continuity of care. Oversees performance assessment and management, participates in selection and disciplinary activities and works with Human Resources to enforce HR policies.
- Ensures and maintains accurate and current documentation regarding staff licensure and credentials and keeps complete and accurate documentation.
- Conducts ongoing review of existing radiological policies and standard operating procedures to identify gaps or discrepancies and implement revisions, as necessary, to support quality control and risk management. Develops and recommends policies and procedures related to clinical practice.
- Oversees processes governing the maintenance of radiologic and magnetic/diagnostic imaging equipment, instruments, supplies and space/design. Ensures equipment needs are met, participates in the selection of new imaging equipment, and follows safety and quality management standards.
- Participates in internal/external quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI) activities and programs, training, and relevant health care events, as required.
- Ensures ongoing compliance and maintenance of the Broadlawns Medical Center's policies and procedures with national standards and other applicable external regulatory requirements, guidelines and accreditation authorities as well as safety and quality management standards.
- Prepares and/or actively participates in the development of the radiology fiscal year budget and allocation of funds. Ensures operations run within budgetary guidelines, reviews budget requests for radiology services and monitors all radiology expenses and purchases.

- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Generally scheduled Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
Qualifications
1. Holds and maintains a certification from one (1) of the following issuing bodies: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and,
2. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; Masters degree preferred; and,
3. Five (5) years of satisfactory radiology experience in a hospital or health care setting, four (4) years of which must have been in a responsible administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity; and
4. Valid Iowa permit to practice
NOTE:
All candidates must meet the eligibility requirements for the Certified Radiology Administrator exam given by the Radiology Administration Certification Commission.

This position assists in all operations of the warehouse at the Des Moines facility. These include, receiving and unloading newsprint; preparing newsprint for use in the reel room; collecting, sorting and weighing non-printed newsprint waste; baling recyclable waste and helping with department record keeping. This position requires knowledge of and compliance with published procedures associated with receiving, and handling pre-prints.
The successful candidate will be quality conscious, able to make quick decisions in a deadline driven environment and able to work as part of a team.
