The Outreach and Engagement team acts as brand advocate for the cybersecurity-focused Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) that supports the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE). Team members develop communications strategy and execute integrated outreach and communication efforts to increase awareness of the NCCoE and further the adoption of specific cybersecurity solutions across industry and key infrastructure sectors.
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a communications strategy for NCCoE projects, events, and campaigns.
• Participates as part of the team crafting and implementing overarching communications strategy for the NCCoE.
• Create effective copy for a variety of mediums including: speeches, blogs, web copy, email promotions, reports, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, conference abstracts, etc.
• Builds, maintains, and grows communities of interest.
• Acts as an editor and writing consultant for the engineering team.
• Serves as project liaison between the publications, webs, and MITRE strategic communications teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Required Qualifications:
• Adept at understanding, digesting, and distilling complex and technical cybersecurity topics into plain, easily understood language
• Significant experience in a marketing or strategic communications role
• Experience developing short-form content for external audiences
• Excel at working both independently and as part of a team
• Experience executing social media campaigns
• Significant experience in juggling multiple priorities and being able to adapt to changing requirements and evolving needs.
• Leadership capabilities to provide guidance and strategic thought process for the center level activities and specific technical industries
• Experience using a variety of digital media to obtain marketing objectives
• Positive attitude, and ability to deliver quality support under tight or shifting deadlines with grace and maturity
• Ability to analyze a problem or process and suggest improvements
• Knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and concepts
• Ability to plan and execute high-profile industry events
• Willingness/ability to learn new technologies
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity, IT, or privacy concepts
• Familiarity with critical infrastructure
• Experience identifying and gathering metrics
• Familiarity with NIST Special Publications

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Apply a variety of data science techniques to tackle customer challenges to include machine learning, statistical models, predictive analytics, optimization, risk analysis, and data visualization
• Apply data science rigor throughout the machine learning lifecycle to ensure reproducibility and trustworthiness.
• Contribute to the development, test, and evaluation of machine learning solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Hands on experience using machine learning and statistical techniques and tools. Hands on proficiency using data science techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, or reinforcement learning
• Experience using existing AI framework (e.g., TensorFlow, Caffe, MXNet, Cognitive Toolkit, Torch)

As an Outreach and Engagement intern, you will be working with other O&E team members and project engineers to promote real-world cybersecurity capabilities that address businesses most needs.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prospect events and conferences for engineers to attend based on industry trends.
• Develop communication strategies for NCCoE projects, events, and campaigns.
• Provide quality assurance checks on emails, blogs, and other marketing materials.
• Communicate project updates through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and their Information Technology Laboratory.
• Support in-person and virtual NCCoE project meetings.
• Work with the NCCoE web team to update website information based on project updates and events.
• Participate as a part of the Outreach and Engagement team, crafting and implementing overarching communications strategies for the NCCoE.
Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelors, Masters in Business, Communications or related discipline; must be enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program the following semester.
• Sustained academic excellence
