About the role

The Communications Officer will lead on communications and engagement activities with the University's postgraduate research community and associated stakeholder groups, including supporting on key events activity throughout the year.

You will ensure effective and impactful communications with a range of audiences, internally and externally, communicating with our postgraduate research community, promoting opportunities to prospective postgraduate research students and raising the profile of the postgraduate research community internally... across the University.

The role would suit a highly organised and pro-active individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop effective communications plans targeted at a range of audiences, using both online and offline channels.

About the Department

Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) is a professional service directorate with responsibility for the central management and delivery of the University's research strategy. Made up of four departments; Research Development and Delivery, Research Environment and Impact, Graduate School and Business Engagement, staff work collaboratively to provide comprehensive support to faculties across the full breadth of research and business partnerships activities.

We are recruiting a fixed-term Education Services Officer to our Assessment Delivery team in Assessment Management, within the Education Services directorate. The team is responsible for ensuring the university's assessment requirements are put into action via organising and scheduling exams and setting-up and receipting coursework.

Assessment is at the heart of what a university does and our department's purpose is to enable our students and colleagues to achieve their best by delivering sector-leading excellence and innovation in assessment management.

Assessment Management consists of six teams;
• Assessment Delivery,
• Assessment Systems,
• Assessment Standards,
• Assessment Service Desk,
• Assessment Mitigations,
• Progression and Classification.

Assessment Management is part of a wider Education Services department. The department is organised around three thematic areas: Assessment, Student and Curriculum. Colleagues work collaboratively and flexibly to support the needs of... the whole department in relation to the demands of the academic calendar.

The Role

The successful candidate will have a passion and ability for organising workload and assessment events, and for building productive stakeholder relations.

The post-holder will need to take data and, via discussion with academic colleagues, will need to translate this into what needs to be delivered on the ground in a complex learning and teaching environment. They will need to critically analyse data, lead project workstreams and be a contact for certain areas within Assessment Management.

The Officer's role will provide guidance and support to students and academic staff, supported by their team, on a wide range of assessment related issues.

The role will require the ability to provide excellent stakeholder service and administrative support for assessment activities across Manchester Metropolitan University. There will be a need to establish excellent working relationships across Professional Service area, the academic community and with collaborative partners.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:
• Has excellent levels of accuracy and the ability to interpret data to come to decisions within the framework of regulatory requirements.
• Will have the confidence to take responsibility for defined areas of work within Assessment Management.
• Has a passion, ability, and experience in delivering high levels of stakeholder service and effective communication.
• Can work flexibly to achieve team objectives by assisting others and working collaboratively to complete tasks and projects.
• Feels comfortable taking ownership of and resolving complex queries.
