Job Description:
The position primarily supports the lower division (100-level and
200-level) courses offered by the Computer Information Science
Department. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to,

ability to prepare and lead large-format classes (100+ enrollment)

Job Description:
The position primarily supports the lower division (100-level and
200-level) courses offered by the Computer Information Science
Department. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to,
teaching general education/service courses such as Introduction to
Information Systems, and/or courses in programming, data
structures, or algorithms. The successful candidate will have
ability to prepare and lead large-format classes (100+ enrollment)
and supervise teaching/graduate lab assistants.
• A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to
twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
• The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as
assigned and qualified.
• May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid,
and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at
the university's additional locations, as assigned.
• The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in
curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research
productively and mentor students in research, help create
innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and
completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding
opportunities.
• All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or
creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study,
in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing
service to the university and community (See Article 22 and
Appendix G of the
IFO Master Agreement).
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree (conferred on an official transcript at the
time of application) and expertise in a variety of computing and
technology-driven subject areas.
• Strong ability for teaching diverse student populations
including first-generation students, second-language learners,
international students, and other student populations that are
under-represented in the STEM fields.
• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with students,
staff, and faculty.
• Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an
equity lens to this position including social justice and/or
anti-racism.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and
learning environment.
• Doctorate or terminal degree in computer science, computer
information science, data science, information technology,
management information systems, or a closely related field.
• University/college teaching experience at undergraduate and/or
graduate level, especially in introductory courses.
• Strong ability to design and deliver large format (100+
enrollment) computing courses.
• Experience supervising and mentoring tutors and lab teaching
assistants.
• Experience working with both computing discipline major and
non-major students.
• Industry experience and/or professional certifications.

actively engaged in teaching, research, and service. The department
offers undergraduate majors in Computer Science, Management
Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, and Health

Information Security & Risk Management, Health Informatics and
Analytics, and Data Science; and minors and certificates for
students with varying interests and backgrounds.
