MOHELA is looking for a passionate and skillful Loan Servicing Specialists for our Credit Team and IDR/Enrollment/NSLDS Team . Starting pay rate is $17.50/hr.

What You Will Be Doing:
The Specialists are responsible for the proper maintenance of borrower accounts through the processing and completion of assigned correspondence and applications. The Specialist is also responsible for proper documentation and response in order to ensure the timely and accurate transition of a loan into repayment status, by the use of various internally and externally produced reports.
• Borrower Correspondence Processing - Research and analyze borrower accounts based upon various Loan Servicing Processing queue tasks. Complete borrower requests based upon MOHELA established policies and procedures to grant borrowers various requests such as repayment plan changes, deferments and forbearances, specialized military processing as well as Specialty Servicing borrower requests via approved contractual guidelines. Initiate via COMPASS system borrower communications (letter or paperless based upon borrower preference) and complete tasks in appropriate turnaround times per MOHELA guidelines.
• Borrower File Request Processing – A number of borrower processing requests are received via electronic file. Most common are e-signed Income Driven Repayment plan requests and Department of Defense military eligibility tasks. Specialists work tasks in those queues, analyzing borrower eligibility for each program and administering the program on each borrower account deemed eligible.
• Account Adjustments - Based on Authority guidelines and State and Federal Regulations, the specialist should make the necessary adjustments based on the research the specialist conducted. The changes that can be made by the specialist include; OSD\EGD, maturity dates on notes, adding forbearances, capping interest, disclosing repayment terms, updating and/or changing repayment plans, NSLDS processing and in limited cases adding In School deferments and ending forbearances and deferments. To forward information to the appropriate department for further adjustments.
• NSLDS Reporting (Direct Lending) - Receive electronic weekly NSLDS feed for loan information including enrollment, repayment status, etc. Work various error reports and data monitoring reports to make sure MOHELA reporting is in sync with NSLDS and DL reporting. Review weekly NSLDS error report and maintain acceptable NSLDS error rates per MOHELA DL contract. Participate in weekly NSLDS calls/meetings respond to internal and external (DL) requests concerning borrower reporting accuracy or required updates.

Quality Control - Perform quality control for Credit Reporting
Direct Credit Disputes - Conduct investigation of correspondence and borrower’s account and consult established guidelines for credit clearing and response.
In-Direct Credit Disputes - Conduct investigation of information received in e-Oscar and review borrower’s account and consult established guidelines for credit clearing.
Monthly Exception Reports - Conduct investigation of the various errors appearing and consult established guidelines for corrections.
Monthly Credit Bureau Sampling Report - Conduct investigation of random sample and consult established guidelines to ensure accurate reporting.
Credit Rehabs - Review guarantor reports for loans that have gone through the rehabilitation process and delete the applicable tradeline(s).
Credit Suppression - Manual updates to ensure accurate reporting, as applicable.
Reports - Daily task volume statistics provided to applicable management

Sort documents into appropriate order to scan. Utilize scanning machine to scan documents into Stellant, MOHELA’s Imaging System
Utilize software program to identify and correctly name a wide variety of documents. Index batches of documents and ensure digital images are both legible and accurate. Verify and correctly input social security numbers. Process a large volume of documents each day. Ensure documents are scanned and correctly named under the appropriate borrower.
Monitor work flows and have flexibility to change functions i.e., scan, qc or index quickly as necessary
Processing Mail -
Incoming –
Open, sort and separate borrower payments from daily correspondence and distribute all confidential mail to the proper department, which entails a knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities of all departments.
Log all certified and registered mail to ensure tracking of a mail piece to its destination within MOHELA.
Responsible for learning, properly operating and maintaining the Ultra machine to open large volumes of mail.
Outgoing -
Responsible for gaining knowledge of Postal rates and services and utilizing the mail machine to apply the proper postage for the letter or parcel. Efficiently and accurately utilize the mailing equipment to process outgoing mail in a timely manner and at the least possible cost.
Prepare all overnight packages via the internet and overseas mail for pickup. Ensure all overseas mail has the proper amount of postage.
Update daily logs per procedures, recording volume of mail processed.
Returned Mail
“With” and “Without” Forwarding Address - Process pieces using RAM macro as outlined in established procedures in a timely manner.
Skiptracing mail – order letters after address has been updated in the system. Match new letter with returned correspondence and resend.
Correspondence Processing – Review incoming correspondence/forms (mail and facsimile) and determine the action required and its priority. Sort, date, and batch correspondence and update the appropriate MOHELA servicing system(s), following established procedures. Thorough understanding of demographic modules within each servicing system and thorough knowledge of all forms coming into the agency and what they are.
Print Operator Back-up – Operate the printers as back-up to the Print Processing Clerk, as directed by the Manager or Coordinator.
Inserter Operation Back-up – Operate the Inserter as back-up to the System Specialist, as directed by the Manager or Coordinator
Support service – Moving supplies, boxes, furniture, etc. as needed and supporting departments with miscellaneous requests. Follow established departmental schedule and deliver forms, paper, and miscellaneous supplies.
What Experience You Will Bring:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 12 months of mail room experience required.
• Must be available to work overtime, as it becomes necessary.

What You Will Be Doing
General Statement Of Duties
Responsible for oversight and direction of all service member accounts to meet the needs of our military borrowers and to enhance the overall borrower experience. This includes ownership over all service member related phone calls, correspondence, and military borrower outreach. Work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure accurate and timely processing of all military related processes. Will be required to research and analyze each account to provide the agent with accurate information. In addition, will be required to provide exceptional internal customer service and treat the Call Center Agent as they would treat a borrower. When assisting the Call Center Agent, the tools should be provided and the means of how to find the answer. This will prevent call backs and increase agent understanding. All Assist Line calls will be tracked by agent log in and type of call. This information is compiled and provided to the Call Center to assist with agent training and development.
• IDQ Evaluation - Field interdepartmental requests (IDQ) from the Contact Center to evaluate and approve additional forbearance requests.

What You Will Be Doing
General Statement Of Duties
Responsible for oversight and direction of all service member accounts to meet the needs of our military borrowers and to enhance the overall borrower experience. This includes ownership over all service member related phone calls, correspondence, and military borrower outreach. Work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure accurate and timely processing of all military related processes. This includes but is not limited to processing of payments, service member related documentation, and all forms of service member outreach. Responsible for gathering and tracking service member trends, preferred options, and method of communication to identify gaps and improve our overall program and process. Also must keep up on recent regulations or Change Requests pertaining to service members to be able to fully educate the borrower on all of their available benefits. . Expert knowledge over the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program to ensure excellent service for Military borrowers enrolled in the program. Respond to PSLF correspondence and related escalations for MOHELA borrowers.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance - Maintain and assure compliance through the strategic use of MOHELA’s various systems, keeping current with and accurately interpreting the applicable laws, rules and regulations. Ensure all accounts are worked within MOHELA standards and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Assure and maintain quality assurance standards in the department and strive to meet goals to ensure departmental compliance with all Federal, State and internal guidelines and policies which includes Security and Privacy Policies.
• Verbal and Written Communication - Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to adjust communication style to fit the listener’s needs. Promotes effective communication, internally and externally with military service members, internal departments, and external partners over the phone and in writing.
• Analysis/Problem Identification - Secure relevant information and identify key issues and relationships from a base of information. Relate and compare data from different sources and identify cause-effect relationships. Detect problems or opportunities. Gather all relevant information. Identify underlying issues or problems. Organize information. Recognize trends. Commit to an action after developing alternative courses of action that are based on logical assumptions and factual information, taking into consideration resources, constraints and organizational values. Weigh pros and cons/impact of alternatives. Commit to the most appropriate action. Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, quarterly and other progress reports for management, as requested.
• Account Research/Analysis/Resolution - Respond to agency wide requests regarding service member accounts via phone or in writing. The Liaison is required to advocate for each and every caller. Ensure the accurate and efficient education for handling of inbound/outbound calls by providing a positive world class borrower experience including first call resolution and a high quality assurance, and meeting the Customer Promise and Customer Service Mission. Make recommendations to help improve our level of service. Track and compile data to help identify gaps and make recommendations to prevent future escalations and improve borrower satisfaction. May be required to work various tasks or projects at once.
• Call Handling - Field all service member caller issues with tact and professionalism, while representing MOHELA in positive image. Must display empathy, sensitivity, and understanding when dealing with sensitive situations. Is required to advocate for each and every caller and collaborate with internal departments and other MOHELA clients in order to provide a satisfactory resolution. Must be able to convey less than desirable news to callers, while still being able to communicate and effectively educate the caller regarding the account in question. Must be able to acknowledge and validate the borrowers concerns and convey their willingness to help to the caller. Must be able to handle a high volume of calls and continue to maintain professional composure. Must be able to approach each caller with a fresh and unbiased perspective.
• Assist Line - The purpose of the Assist Line is in place to manage incoming Call Center Agent inquiries regarding borrower accounts. All Assist Line requests will come through an identified number for tracking purposes and will allow a designated specialist to focus on this task. Will be required to research and analyze each account to provide the agent with accurate information. In addition, will be required to provide exceptional internal customer service and treat the Call Center Agent as they would treat a borrower. When assisting the Call Center Agent, the tools should be provided and the means of how to find the answer. This will prevent call backs and increase agent understanding. All Assist Line calls will be tracked by agent log in and type of call. This information is compiled and provided to the Call Center to assist with agent training and development.
• IDQ Evaluation - Field interdepartmental requests (IDQ) from the Contact Center to evaluate and approve additional forbearance requests.
• Escalated Call Handling - Required to field escalated caller issues with tact and professionalism, while representing MOHELA in positive image. Ensure high quality written communication, efficiency, and accuracy in correspondence. Perform in-depth account research and collaborate with internal departments to advocate on behalf of borrowers. Strive for one-contact resolution on written inquiries. Ensure compliance with federal and state law regarding written correspondence.
What Experience You Will Bring
Education and Experience:
• 12 months of Student Loan Contact Center or CAT experience required or prior military experience
• A stable work history with an excellent attendance and dependability record
