Logistics Delegate (m/f/d), Morocco

GRC is seeking a Logistics Delegate (m/f/d) to be based in Rabat, Morocco. Together with the Moroccan Red Crescent Society (MRCS), GRC successfully implements programmes since 2012. The support to MRCS has been scaled-up after the devastating earthquake on September 8, 2023. The relief and recovery operation in response to the earthquake is currently being implemented with funding from the German... Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), GRC own funds and third-party funding. While the current activities address emergency needs of the affected population, the recovery phase will focus on DRR and health. Additionally, this programme is complemented with capacity strengthening measures for MRCS.

Based in Rabat, the Logistics Delegate is supported by an experienced international team of delegates and local staff under the line management of the Head of Office. The duty station is greenlighted for accompanied posting.

Starting date: 01.05.2024

Duration: 12 months with possible extension

Location: Rabat, with frequent travel to other regions of Morocco

Main duties & responsibilities:
• Ensure logistics in all GRC programmes in country, including procurement, warehousing, fleet management.
• Support MRCS in creating a functional, fit for purpose and sustainable logistics set-up, with a focus on the procurement and mobilization of non-food items for emergency assistance programs carried out in the country, warehouse and fleet management.
• Review standard procurement procedures and practices as per MRCS Procurement Manual.
• Coordinate with the procurement team of MRCS and Red Cross and Red Crescent counterparts.
• Provide logistics technical guidance and training to MRCS & GRC staff and volunteers, ensuring sustainable capacity building and MRCS empowerment.

Required Competencies & Skills:
• University degree or advanced degree in a relevant field.
• At least three years of experience in humanitarian logistics, warehousing and procurement.
• Proven technical experience on humanitarian logistics including, but not limited to setting up of processes and standards and facilitation of capacity building activities for staff and volunteers.
• Proven experience working with national and/or local partner organizations; previous experience in working with the Red Cross / Red Crescent will be considered a strong asset.
• Excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships at all levels, considering cultural and language differences.
• Experience in implementing logistics and procurement under donor-funded projects (preferably GFFO, BMZ, ECHO).
• Experience working in the MENA region will be considered a strong asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team with high level of cultural sensitivity, underpinned by substantial work experience in foreign contexts.
• Flexibility and capability to adapt, proven ability to work and live in a dynamic and challenging environment.
• Oral and written fluency in English and French is a requirement; knowledge of Arabic or German would be an asset.
• Ability and agreement to adhere to the Red Cross Red Crescent Fundamental Principles.
• Ability to complete a thorough medical screening process “working abroad under specific climate and health conditions”.
• Valid Driving Licence.

What we offer you:

You will be part of a highly motivated professional and multicultural team. We offer you a compensation package according to the collective employment agreement of the GRC, an expatriation allowance during your mission as well as an allowance to cover your accommodation.
