Position Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the coordination and administration of all aspects of an initiating program for Cancer Inequities including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities.

The Program Manager supports the Director of the Institute of Translational Genomic Medicine with a recently awarded international effort. The Evaluation and Institutional Assessment (EIA) Assistant Director will guide efforts associated with evaluation plan development and implementation in partnership with institutional and external collaborators. They will lead/co-facilitate training of faculty, students, and staff other professionals in evaluation methods for the institution. Description of Job Duty

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The EIA will work directly under the supervision and direction of the Unit Director. This will include, at minimum, two regularly scheduled meetings per month with the Director to discuss progress, deliverables and to provide mentorship and direction associated with their responsibilities. Position Summary

SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President for Research Development works in collaboration with the Senior Vice President for Research (SVPR) to cultivate extramurally funded research and research training programs that contribute to the institution's mission, vision, and strategic plan; expand and diversify the Morehouse School of Medicine's research portfolio; and ensure the development, growth, and effectiveness of the institution's research enterprise. The Associate Vice President for Research Development reports directly to the SVPR, is a member of the SVPR's leadership team and is appointed to multiple campus committees and advisory groups. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In cultivating extramurally-funded research, the Associate Vice President for Research Development identifies external sources that present viable funding opportunities that align with institutional strategic goals for research and other mission areas; evaluates and aligns grant proposals and other research development services and activities with institutional needs; leads an office that provides technical support to faculty, trainees, and students; and provides assistance in identifying new research opportunities that have the potential for significant growth and that promote research at the interface of different disciplines.

To expand and diversify the research portfolio, the Associate Vice President for Research Development advocates with potential funders to initiate new funding streams, proactively engages potential funders to promote faculty expertise and institutional strengths, partners with Research Offices at other institutions to attract funders for visits to expands MSM eligibility for existing and new funding opportunities responds to requests for information, and coordinates activities to facilitate internal and external collaborations.

To ensure the development, growth, and effectiveness of the research enterprise, the Associate Vice President for Research Development advises senior research leadership, Center and Institute Directors, and Department Chairs. He/ She plans activities and supervises staff in the Office of Research Development (ORD). These activities include but are not limited to the coordination and maintenance of a faculty research expertise database; providing and coordinating classes and workshops on research project development and proposal writing for students, trainees, faculty, and staff; coordination of external peer reviews of proposals; coordination of limited competitions; providing organization and administrative support for Research Working Groups; and tracking research outcomes. ORD also administratively supports the Research Advisory Committee (RAC), and the Research Development Committee (RDC), organizes the MSM Scientific Seminar Series, and plays a major role in the organization of institutional research days, funder visits, and research retreats.

The Department of Medicine is the largest of MSM's clinical departments. Its faculty members provide clinical services at Grady Hospital and its clinics, the Atlanta VA Medical Center, and at Morehouse Healthcare. The Department has the Divisions of Cardiology, General Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care, Geriatrics, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Nephrology, and Neurology. The Internal Medicine
Residency Program has over 80 residents. A new Neurology Residency Program had its first class start in July 2023. There are established fellowship programs in Cardiology and Pulmonary -Critical Care and a newly approved fellowship in Gastroenterology will bring in its first fellows in July 2025.

Student and Residency Excellence
Over the last five years, the department has continued to make gains in the education arena. In terms of our undergraduate 3rd and 4th year clerkships, the numbers of students on each
rotation have increased. In the 3rd year clerkship, our students are now successfully rotating at our Columbus Campus, Grady Memorial Hospital and Atlanta Va. We have expanded the
rotations offered to our 4th year students. Our students report excellent experience during their rotations and are passing their shelf tests.

In terms of GME, we have expanded our residency program in Internal Medicine from 72 to 83 positions with additional growth expected. Other highlights include:
• Expanded our Cardiovascular Fellowship to include a potential research year and have graduated
two classes.
• Obtained ACGME approval for our Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship with the inaugural class anticipated to graduate in June 2024.
• Received ACGME approval and have begun a Neurology Residency with the inaugural class
completing their first year in June 2024.
• Received ACGME approval to begin a Gastroenterology Fellowship due to begin July 2025.
• Completed ACGME evaluation and approval of all programs without any citations.
World-Class Team
Recruitment: In the last five years, MSM recruited 29 new faculty members with a distribution of: four cardiologists, three neurologists, one infectious disease, one hematologist/
oncologist, four gastroenterologists, three pulmonary/critical care, one nephrologist, 11 general internal medicine, and one researcher. We are currently recruiting an additional
16 faculty.

Promotions: Over the last five years, we have promoted 21 faculty members with the following distribution: one instructor to assistant professor; eight assistant professors to
associate professor; and 12 associate professors to professor.

Advancing Health Equity
Research and National Societies: Throughout the last five years, our faculty have continued to increase their scholarly activity. These accomplishments include:
• MSM faculty members are prolific authors who have achieved 182 publications in the past five years. Our residents continue to be leaders in scholarly activity at the Region ACP Meeting.
• MSM received the GME Award for the Program with the Most Scholarly Activities in November 2022. We were selected for the award after having the most PubMed ID
publications by faculty and residents compared to other MSM GME programs.
• Our department has two faculty members that have achieved membership in the National Academy of Sciences.
• Our faculty cumulatively belongs to 187 national societies.
• The divisions of Pulmonary/Critical Care, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, and General Internal Medicine are active producers of grant funding.
• Over the last five years, the Department of Medicine allocated more than $28.3 million dollars in

Description of Job Duty

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Maintain a high level of accuracy for all work
• Work well as team-member, participate in positive communication, and foster an environment that allows all laboratory staff to work well together
• Supports laboratory staff by maintaining glassware, logs, and record books, troubleshooting and resolving problems and helping with special projects.
• Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Help support other lab members and their projects
• Carry out own scientific projects, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
• Specimen management and processing
• Maintain web-based electronic inventory of cryopreserved cells stored in liquid nitrogen freezers
• Prepare laboratory biohazard and sharps waste for disposal
• Establish and maintain laboratory standards, ensuring that all laboratory equipment are maintained in good operating condition
• Data Management - document all procedures clearly and extensively
• Lead or train students or team members on laboratory techniques and assays
• May perform data analysis, interpretation, and statistical analyses
• Other duties as assigned
Immunization Requirements

It is MSM's Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate's offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination
