Position Summary

Join an Office of Admissions team that is enthusiastic about
promoting access to higher education by supporting prospective and
incoming Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners. The
Admissions Counselor – On Campus is a member of the recruitment
team within the Office of Admissions and contributes to the MSU
Denver Mission to provide a high-quality, accessible, enriching
education that prepares students for successful careers,
post-graduate education and lifelong learning in a multicultural,
global and technological society.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Transfer
Services, this position shares broad recruitment and enrollment
responsibilities with other members of the Office of Admissions.
This position is a key player in the recruitment and outreach
efforts of the university and provides counseling to prospective
students (with a heavy emphasis on transfer and adult learners),
applicants, and admitted students to assist the university in
meeting enrollment goals. This role will provide direct customer
service and support to students seeking enrollment at MSU Denver in
the form of in person meetings, email communication, and phone
support.

Duties/Responsibilities

45% – Recruitment & Outreach
• Conducts directed follow-up activities and communications for
targeted prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted
students via email, mail, phone, text, and CRM systems, including
call campaigns and regular walk-in student appointments
• Assists with execution of on-campus recruitment related events
such as campus visits and presentations, group tours and
bi-institutional events, and open houses. This can entail
presenting to large audiences and providing general support for the
events.
• Helps develop social media content for prospective students,
applicants, and new admits.

45% –Counseling
• Provides admissions counseling and academic planning advice to
prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted students via
email, telephone, video conferencing, text, mail, and direct
in-office communication.
• Facilitates application and admission of students by working
closely with a variety of MSU Denver student services programs and
academic offices.
• Exercises professional judgment to interpret University
policies to advise prospective and new students about admission
procedures, transfer of credits, University policies, the financial
aid processes, scholarships, program requirements, registration,
tuition classification, and available student support
services.

10% – Additional Duties
• Represents the Office of Admissions on internal and external
committees and organizations related to the recruitment and
admission of students.
• Represent MSU Denver at off campus recruitment visits and
events
• Upholds and interprets the standards of ethical practice in
university admissions to assist with broad recruitment activities.
Assists in the preparation of surveys and questionnaires
distributed by the Office of Admissions to determine the
effectiveness of our programs and services.

Required Qualifications
• A minimum of 1-year experience working in higher education,
secondary education, or student engagement organization (student
employment may satisfy this requirement)

Communications

The Director of Brand Strategy oversees cohesive and consistent
branding efforts for all units within the University structure
including: colleges/schools, departments, programs, and offices,
ensuring alignment and consistency of brand messaging and visual
presentation, as well as proper adherence to established brand
guidelines. Additionally, the Director oversees materials created
by external vendors to ensure deliverables align with MSU Denver’s
overall brand image. The Director of Brand Strategy reports to the
Associate Vice President of Marketing and Brand.

Key Responsibilities:
• Direct all brand assets to ensure accurate and consistent
implementation of MSU Denver brand.
• Work directly with external vendors, including art direction
and budget management.

Manage budgets and vendor bidding processes.
• Work with selected vendor(s) through duration of project(s) to
ensure deliverables are accomplished in a timely manner and within
budget.
• Serves as art director for the University’s alumni magazine,
RED as well as other signature university communications assets
which may include high level as well as branded templates,
advertising and print publications.
• Supervises Design Specialist and freelance designers. Coaches
and trains University Communications and Marketing team and campus
partners on brand content, tone and visual style.
• Collaborates with Brand Manager for trademark and licensing
initiatives.
• Collaborates with Marketing and Digital Strategy team for
branded creative assets in print, out-of-home, digital
advertisements and online/website applications to ensure brand
standards.
• Review all marketing materials, particularly in transition
stages, to ensure they are within brand.
• Providing critical feedback regarding brand consistency,
accuracy of brand implementation and overall aesthetics.
• Work with University Communications and Marketing team to
ensure that the brand is properly reflected in all University-level
marketing and communication platforms, which may include
advertising and continues to improve these programs.
• Work with University programs, departments and colleges/schools
to provide brand assets and design or templates as needed to ensure
that brand is properly reflected in all direct communication
campaigns (in all publications) and on the website.
• Continue to manage and improve, evolve and perfect the existing
university brand hierarchy, architecture, including updating MSU
Denver’s Brand Standards guidelines, brand website (Brand Central)
and brand assets for the University as needed.
• Conduct Brand Orientation Meetings for University Departments
and design and participate in Brand Trainings for new employees and
Marketing Cohorts.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a major in communication
design or related field.
• Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Illustrator
and Adobe InDesign.
• Seven to ten years professional experience in graphic design or
art direction related to brand development, implementation and
management with three years in a director level or higher
position.
• Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in brand implementation
and management, community relations and strategic
partnership/outreach strategy development.
• Experience in leveraging resources with community partners to
maximize University reputation and recognition.
• Strong communication, written and verbal and highly developed
technical problem-solving and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and develop brand
strategies to accomplish established goals.
• Project management skills including developing reports and
assessments.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of

Position Summary

MSU Denver’s TRIO Upward Bound program serves first generation,
under-resourced college bound students by generating the skills and
motivation necessary to complete high school and to enter and
succeed in a program of post-secondary education.

The Education Coordinator and Advisor supports the planning,
development, implementation and delivery of program instruction and
services related to the individual academic development needs, as
well as building skill mastery for all TRIO High School Upward
Bound participants. The position provides educational and college
preparatory services to assist high school students by developing
curriculum and delivering supplemental instruction, including
delivery of seminars around study skills, SAT test-taking
strategies, and other college readiness subjects. In addition, the
position serves as an advisor for a cohort of high school
participants, provides coordination around recruitment, serves as a
community liaison to support service learning, supervises
University student staff and contributes to the data collection and
evaluation of program services. This position reports to the
Director and is funded through a federal grant.

Duties/Responsibilities

35% – Program Development and Instructional Support
• Assess high school student needs and develop supplemental
instruction for after-school programming to support student
success
• Manage and oversee educational and enrichment programming for
the academic year component including the development of seminars
around skills-building and college prep and enrichment activities
to promote college readiness
• Provide instruction during after-school program in core
academic areas
• Identify service-learning opportunities for participants and
coordinate engagement
• Develop Summer Bridge seminars for recently graduated high
school seniors
• Develop structures to support after-school and summer
programming efforts to align with program outcomes
• Provide supervision during cultural programs, campus visits and
other off-site activities
• Manage the program development component of the budget to
ensure funding is adequately distributed and spent

25% – Advising
• Responsible for providing academic and college counseling and
advising to a cohort of Upward Bound participants in both the
academic year and summer component
• Conduct needs assessments of program participants
• Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans each
semester for Upward Bound participants, in cooperation with the
students, parents/guardians, school counselors and their high
school instructors to ensure that all participants have the ability
to graduate high school in four years, without a need for remedial
classes, and are prepared to enroll and graduate from a
post-secondary institution

20% – School and Community Liaison
• Promote and sustain new and existing relationships with school
counselors and teachers at target schools to support student
success
• Create connections with community-based organizations and
non-profit organizations to identify service-learning opportunities
for high school participants
• In partnership with the TRIO team, support the recruitment
effort of new students, including hosting informational sessions,
conducting interviews, intake, and orientation, attending
recruiting events, follow-up outreach and the development of
structures to report recruitment efforts and outcomes

10% – University Student Staff Supervision
• Recruit, hire, manage compensation, and oversee training,
orientation of University student staff who serve as mentors during
the summer program

5% – Data Collection and Evaluation Support
• Administer, compile, and analyze Upward Bound and State
assessment tests; review and evaluate high school grade and
progress reports
• Ensure all student data is uploaded regularly in the Student
Access Database system, including the monitoring of participant
involvement in program services and work with administrative
support staff to maintain student and office records to ensure
student academic progress year-round
• In partnership with the Upward Bound team, support the
development of an evaluation plan to determine quality of program
outcomes
• Conduct evaluations of program delivery and instructional
classes

5% – Other Duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, human services,
social work, sociology or related field
• Experience working with urban youth in a TRIO or similar
pre-collegiate educational outreach program
• Experience providing academic intervention and instructional
support to youth
• Experience tracking participant involvement with program
services to support student persistence
• Experience providing program development and coordination
support.
• Experience providing supervision to student employees
• Knowledge or experience working under rules of Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and confidentiality
