Work Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and occasional Fridays and Mondays, 9:15am - 12:15pm
About the position:
Are you interested in connecting the curiosity of the Greater Boston youth to the overwhelming beauty of nature all while educating them on scientific concepts? Would you like to facilitate outdoor activities in an inspiring, interactive, hands-on/minds-on, and culturally responsive way? The Emerald Necklace Conservancy is hiring capable, enthusiastic educators to lead school day Nature connection/environmental education field trips for Boston's 3rd and 4th graders in Emerald Necklace Parks.
Responsibilities:
• Work with Education staff to prepare and facilitate interactive nature connection/environmental education activities in Emerald Necklace parks
• Lead groups of 12-15 program participants in hands-on outdoor nature-based learning experiences in Emerald Necklace Parks
• Monitor program participants in all types of outdoor environments and ensure the safety and comfort of all participants
• Maintain a professional work environment, which includes equipment cleanup and storage of program gear and materials
• Provide basic first aid as needed
Qualifications:
Must Haves:
• 1 + years of experience in facilitating outdoor nature connection and environmental education activities for youth
• BA or BS in environmental education, environmental studies, biology, or earth science
• Ability to teach youth in an outdoor environment
• Interest in natural history, nature connection, environmental education, and science education
• Strong organizational, time management, oral, and written communication skills
• Experience in customer service or childcare and excellent interpersonal skills
• Skills and ability to work with diverse groups, exercise cultural humility, and implement best practices in inclusion
• Demonstrate a positive attitude while working on a team
• Reliable transportation to transport teaching materials to and from activity locations
• Proficiency in standard business software, such as Microsoft Office or G Suite

The Wisconsin Director of Conservation Science is a leader in The Nature Conservancy’s Wisconsin Business Unit, responsible for integrating an evidence-based, scientific approach for priority applied conservation and policy work. They play a lead role in shaping and implementing TNC’s climate action and renewable energy approaches in Wisconsin and the Midwest. They work independently and on teams, with the discipline and perspective to apply expertise and resources selectively to advance top priorities. They ensure that work in Wisconsin integrates with TNC’s Midwest Division, North American Region and Global science initiatives.
The Wisconsin Director of Conservation Science defines science priorities for TNC in Wisconsin and leads and manages a team to support and improve ongoing projects. They establish the Conservancy as a conservation science partner in the State, serving as the principal science contact to government agencies, other conservation organizations, foundations, the academic community and the Wisconsin Board of Trustees.
The Director of Conservation Science develops key partnerships with public and private organizations to identify, resolve and communicate solutions and best practices to identified audiences. They develop scientific methods, analyses, tools, and frameworks that address natural system needs and engage local communities for conservation outcomes. They co-create and facilitate complex and innovative solutions, working with Conservancy colleagues, government agencies, non-profit organizations and community members to benefit natural systems and people.
The Wisconsin Director of Conservation Science uses a multi-discipline approach to problem solving and manages an ecology-focused Science and Innovation Team that interfaces with staff, contractors and partners in disciplines including physical, atmospheric and climate sciences, renewable energy, social sciences, economics, technology and engineering. Nature Astronomy () - a high-quality international online journal covering all areas of astronomy, astrophysics and the planetary sciences - is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join its editorial team on a permanent basis. In addition to publishing original research, Nature Astronomy publishes Comments, Reviews, Features and Correspondence from across all disciplines connected to astronomy, as well as from a full range of voices. Editors work on all aspects of the journal and will have an opportunity to write Editorials, Research Highlights and other content.
Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) in an astronomy-related discipline and the ideal candidate will have expertise in cosmology or gravitational waves, although other specialisations will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a general interest in other areas of research beyond their own. Postdoctoral experience may be an advantage but is not required.Editorial experience is also not required, although applicants with significant editorial experience may be considered for a Senior Editor position. The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager will establish an In-Lieu Fee mitigation program within the South Carolina Business Unit to execute compensatory stream and wetland mitigation projects. The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager will develop an Instrument for the program including mitigation site selection procedures, assessment of credit supply and demand within service areas, setting fee schedules, and full-cost accounting. The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager serves as the principal developer of the program, and will engage the US Army Corps of Engineers, the South Carolina Interagency Review Team, the private-sector mitigation community, and land trust community in the endeavor. The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager will also promote the program to key potential customers and stakeholders.

What We Can Achieve Together
The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager will establish an In-Lieu Fee mitigation program within the South Carolina Business Unit to execute compensatory stream and wetland mitigation projects. The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager will develop an Instrument for the program including mitigation site selection procedures, assessment of credit supply and demand within service areas, setting fee schedules, and full-cost accounting. The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager serves as the principal developer of the program, and will engage the US Army Corps of Engineers, the South Carolina Interagency Review Team, the private-sector mitigation community, and land trust community in the endeavor. The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager will also promote the program to key potential customers and stakeholders.
The Freshwater Mitigation Program Manager will travel within South Carolina regularly, and work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
