• Participates in coalitions and acts as liaison to various groups and/or projects to promote the interests of state nurse licensing board’s public protection mandate and therefore the interests of NCSBN.

• Conducts detailed analysis and makes recommendations regarding legislation and public policy initiatives arising from federal legislation at the national level related to nursing regulation.
• Manages the day-to-day relationship with external government relations firm, conveying needs and expectations of NCSBN governance and senior staff.
• Maintains working knowledge of NCSBN’s mission, goals, bylaws, strategic plan, and services.
• Works closely with the Nursing Regulation team and participates in activities and discussions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in public or health care policy, public administration, political science, law, or related field required.
• Minimum of five years’ work experience in government relations, legislative, and political affairs required.
• Knowledge of professional health care regulation, public protection models and nonprofit associations preferred.
• Detail-oriented, resourceful, innovative, tactful, and diplomatic with the ability to work collaboratively and/or independently to resolve issues and ensure that assignments and projects are accurately completed within established deadlines.
