Thank you! • Manage Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act consultation process for NDOT projects, and city/county projects that receive federal funds through FHWA.
• Review Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments and Categorical Exclusions for compliance.
• Be knowledgeable of the National Historic Preservation Act, Nebraska State Preservation law, and related federal and state regulations.

• Coordinate with consultants performing similar work for federally funded city/county projects. Provide report review and approval.
• Responsible for making FHWA federal-aid determinations of NRHP eligibility and project effects determinations and compiling and creating documentation for consultation with FHWA, Nebraska State Historic Preservation Office, tribal nations and other consulting parties as required by Section 106 regulations. Respond to agency, tribal and public comments.
• Develop process procedure guidance documents as required for compliance with state and federal funded programs. Develop, lead and/or participate in cultural resource training efforts for NDOT staff, consultants, and city/county Responsible Charge (RC).
• Review and comment on documents prepared by others.
• Represent NDOT at project management meetings, public information meetings and hearings, city/county meetings, LPA/RC trainings, conferences, and seminars.
• Gather and analyze data necessary to determine project effects. Ensure documentation is complete, file and retrieve records.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Valid Nebraska driver's license.
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within 60 days.
Employees must possess and maintain a Highway Superintendent License within 12 months of hire.

This position reports to, and receives direction from, the Health Director, and is responsible for the division budget and personnel management. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through conferences and results achieved. Supervision is exercised over subordinate employees.
The ideal candidate will have:

• Ability to communicate effectively.
