The Department of Criminal Justice at the University of New Haven invites applications for a lecturer position (non-tenure track). In addition to teaching courses at the undergraduate level and potentially at the graduate level, the successful candidate will be actively involved with advising and mentoring students, along with developing experiential learning opportunities and partnerships in the community.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum educational requirement is a master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or other closely related social science field.
• Demonstrated commitment to experiential education, student success, and career preparation. Inter- and intra-departmental collegiality is expected.
• Both practical work experience and university teaching experience are preferred. Ability to teach a variety of classes in our curriculum and incorporate service-learning into assigned classes is desired.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Purchasing Director, this administrator will assist in a wide variety of purchasing support responsibilities. The ideal candidate for this position will exercise independent thought and discretion, be a motivated self-starter, and possess professional curiosity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides excellent customer service, instructions, and basic advice to students, faculty, staff and other internal stakeholders seeking information on “where and how to buy it” and give direction on Purchasing Department policies and procedures; including those related to travel and the PCard program.
• Assists in the documentation of office policies and procedures, updating as required.
• Provides support with the creation, monitoring and evaluation of the approved vendor list. Maintenance of vendor file and procurement of vendor W9.
• Facilitates the procurement process for commodities or services from authorized requisitions.
• Assists with price action events including administration of RFP’s and RFI’s and informal sourcing and analyzing of competitive bids. Following up with vendors and internal customers throughout lifecycle of order from solicitation of quotes to issuance of purchase order.
• Assists with the administration of the University’s Purchasing Card (PCard) program.
• Works closely with departments and vendors to ensure vendors are providing the expected level of services or products in accordance with contracts/agreements and handles vendor complaints.
• Managing business activities across campus such as those related to copy machines, shredding services, office supplies, water coolers, business cards, letterhead and stationery, and name badges.
• Preparing submission and filing of Cert-119, Cert-123, and other tax exemption/reporting documents.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level and responsibilities of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Three years, or more, of experience in Purchasing and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Polished written and verbal skills. Use of correct and professional spelling, grammar, and sentence structure.

Preferred
• Experience working in a higher education environment, as is experience with Banner.
• These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.

Position Summary

The Connecticut Institute of Technology (CIT) at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor in Data Science. Academic areas of interest include, but are not limited to, data engineering, data visualization, cyber security, natural language processing, machine learning, quantitative social science, and statistics. CIT houses multiple degrees in CS/ECE/Data Science at both the BS and MS levels and participates in the PhD program in Engineering and Applied Science. Qualification
• D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Science, Data Engineering, or other closely related fields; the degree must be complete by the successful candidates starting date of employment.
• A commitment to excellent teaching, and effective communication skills. Ability to teach hands on graduate courses in general areas of data science such as artificial intelligence, deep learning, distributed & scalable data engineering, machine learning, and natural language processing. Experience in application areas such social data analytics, healthcare, energy, finance, or security is desired.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and interdisciplinary funded research. Candidates are expected to develop a research program that complements existing research activities in the department and college with application of data science and engages graduate and undergraduate students. Opportunities for research collaboration exist within the college and across the university. Scholarly publications and grant writing to establish funded research is expected.
• Service at the program, departmental, college and university levels on various working groups and committees, is also expected. Other duties may include working with corporations to secure industry-sponsored projects and outreach/recruiting.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
