The Director of Administrative Computing is responsible for preserving the integrity and optimizing the value of the portfolio of Enterprise Applications in support of the on-going operational needs of the college. This includes areas like application development and support, day-to-day operations, software upgrades, improvements, enhancements, security, as well as the intake of new technology as needs are identified. This key leadership role has exposure to all key initiatives and strategies; and requires understanding of customer needs and challenges while fully leveraging available technology. Working with CIO and other IT leaders, the Director will develop an overall applications strategy in the context of the business strategy.

This role is responsible for the management, security, integrity, programming and disaster recovery planning of all administrative applications and centralized data processing for the college. The position oversees all Administrative Computing ERP platforms and services and is responsible for the development and maintenance of a complex technological infrastructure within an academic environment and the successful integration of security, legislative and academic requirements. This includes feasibility studies, project estimates (time and cost), hardware and software requirements, and coordinating planning across Information Technology and other department groups. The Director assigns and prioritizes approved projects to Administrative Computing staff. The duties of this role include but are not limited to:
• Supervises Enterprise Applications programming staff. Directs administrative system planning/architecture, analysis and programming for the administrative computing and associated systems.
• Leads or coordinates the analysis, design, and programming for the Enterprise Application portfolio and other third party and custom databases and software. Coordinates quality assurance for all new and current Enterprise Applications, processes, and databases.
• Assists the CIO in formulating policies and procedures for this area
• Oversees Enterprise Applications standards and procedures
• Ensure that application development processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with the College's technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.
• Assigns projects or approved programming services requests to programming/analyst personnel.
• Acts as a project leader for assigned projects. This includes typical software development lifecycle phases such as: requirements gathering, coding, testing, documentation, program implementation and user acceptance.
• Performs analysis and consults with clients to determine feasibility, desired results, and the method to be used to accomplish the objective. Prepares high level design specifications and guidelines from which programs can be written.
• Evaluates current processes and recommends solutions that can streamline and provide efficiencies in cost and process time.
• Provides planning; strategic and tactical support for the Enterprise Applications, related sub-systems and 3rd party products.
• Mentors and develops staff members and serves as an expert resource when needed.
• Conducts annual performance reviews for staff and maintains employee performance programs.
• Ensures Enterprise Application security (and access) is appropriate.
• Oversees installation and manages integration between Enterprise Applications and other related systems.
• Works with the Banner Systems Administrator (and other Systems Admins where necessary) to ensure that the on-premises SIS environment is kept patched and updated on a regular basis.
• Supports the planning for disaster recovery and related testing.
• Partners with IT and Administrative departments such as Financial Aid, Records & Registration, Student Accounts, Enrollment Management, HRDI, and Student Affairs to understand the needs of their functions and works to ensure the Enterprise Applications are properly aligned to meet college priorities.
• Manages relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.
• Leads and facilitates the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies or capabilities that can be applied within the Enterprise System Portfolio.
• Establishes, monitors and reports on SLAs with the business units. Prepares system development cost estimates, budgets and schedules.
• Prepares and presents project proposals to management and business partner departments.
• Ensures that adequate system documentation is maintained for all applications.

Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, in a relevant discipline such as: Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related scientific or technical discipline
• Minimum of (5) years of related work experience
• Prior experience managing a department of application development professionals

Preferred:
• Master's degree and related professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Experience supporting Student Information Systems such as Ellucian Banner or Workday
• Experience developing with or managing database systems like MS SQLserver, Oracle, etc
• Familiarity with Reporting, Visualization, and data analytics software packages

The successful candidate is expected to actively manage a large student caseload (average primary caseload is approximately 200 students, with secondary support of approximately 450 students), which involves a high level of proactive outreach to select first-year students, first-semester transfer students, and students who may be in academic jeopardy. Caseload will consist of 25% Education majors and 75% a combination of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Science & Engineering, and Fine & Performing Arts majors. Academic Advisors are also expected to participate in university programs that support enrollment and retention which may require evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties include:
• Provide undergraduate students with integrative advisement and informed guidance with educational planning in a manner that is consistent with NACADA's Core Values of Academic Advising.
• Proficiency with advising technology (EAB's Starfish Student Success Platform) to facilitate the delivery of proactive and integrated student advisement in a manner that promotes a seamless and communicative campus-wide culture of student success.
• Maintain a current understanding of all college academic policies and procedures which could inform student academic progress and time-to-degree.
• Foster collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff and students in support of student success initiatives for all undergraduate students and, in particular, student groups with unique barriers to success including first generation college students, transfer students, diverse learners, and students from underrepresented populations.
