Qualifications

The candidate should hold at least a master's degree in education that resulted from advance study beyond an initial teacher certification degree. (Note: Master of Arts in Teaching or other graduate degrees through which initial teacher certification was earned are not advanced study degrees). Extensive experience in ELA/SS/Literacy/Reading in the PK-12 classroom required.

Experience in teaching methods courses at the university level preferred. Training in dyslexia preferred. Training in dyslexia preferred. Assistant professor/tenure track available for candidate with terminal degree.

Job Concepts
• Teach all classes (12-15 credit hours per semester) as assigned by Director or Dean in a manner that will fully promote academic excellence.
• Serve as academic advisor for elementary education students.
• Coordinate Elementary Programs and Literacy Initiatives across all Initial Certification Programs.
• Coordinate placements, observations, and evaluations for methods students in all programs.
• Coordinate methods courses including mapping scope and sequence and making needed curriculum changes.
