JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Recordkeeping. Oversees the monitoring and maintenance of records.Ensures that records are completed and relevant paperwork is kept in the office. Ensures that records are maintained for all supplies ordered and received. Maintains price quotes, tracks dates ordered/received, and maintains a current list of vendors.

Monitors heat and hot water systems in off-campus properties.Ensures heating and hot water systems are functioning properly at all times.Notifies building management if there is a problem with the heat or hot water system.Confirms that repairs from outside vendors are performed in a timely manner.
• Repairs. Directs repairs to appliances and fixtures.Responds to assignments in order by the date and time received unless otherwise instructed. Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor-Clinical Cancer Center Lab.

In this role, the successful candidate has direct responsibility for the management and supervision of the Laboratory services. In this capacity, the supervisor is responsible for the organization of work, supervision of employees, staff development, expense control, quality assurance, process improvement, and problem solving in the delivery and services and related programs within the division. Performs all job duties with sensitivity to the age and development issues of the patient population(s) served.

Job Responsibilities:
• Fosters the values and supports the objectives of the Cancer Center and the objectives of the Medical Center within the System and acts as a positive role model.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure compliance with the state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards, including quality assurance, safety and licensing requirements within the department, and with medical center policies, procedures and protocols.
• MAJOR CHALLENGES: To be able to run as many tests as necessary within the context of Medical Center and approval of such procedures upon submission.
• WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts with lab staff under supervision as well as the hospital personnel. Interaction with other department managers and center physicians.
• Exercises oversight of department fiscal affairs, including accountability for budgets..
• Supervises department employees, including responsibility for hiring, assignment of work, orientation, coaching, training, performance and competency evaluation, compensation, discipline and termination of employment. Promotes collaborative teamwork and open communication.
• Collaborates with other managers in cross-functional process improvement and problem solving to ensure the effective coordination of services within and between departments.
• Supervises the delivery of department services and a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure accurate and valid outcomes and continuous improvement of service quality for all customers. Ensures compliance with federal and State laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards, including safety and licensure requirements within the department and with Medical Center policies, procedures and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Science.
• The Lab Manager must have a current valid Clinical Laboratory License (State or National)
• The Lab Manager is qualified as a medical technologist pursuant to the provisions of section 58-1.5(b) of the NYS DOH Clinical Laboratory Regulations Subpart 58-1 and have at least 6 years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience.
• Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of laboratory information systems essential.
• Pursuant to section 58-1.5(b) of the NYS DOH Clinical Laboratory Regulations (qualifications), each individual performing moderate and high complexity testing must have the skills required for:
• Proper specimen collection, including patient identification and preparation, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens;
• Understanding, implementing and adhering to all standard laboratory procedures;
• Performing each test method and proper instrument use;
• Performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration procedures related to each test performed, according to manufacturer and/or internal policy and procedure;
• Understanding, implementing and adhering to quality control policies and procedures;
• Assessing and verifying the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality sample values prior to reporting patient test results;
• A working knowledge of reagent stability and storage.
• Appropriate interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, physicians, and clients and co-workers.
• Detail oriented, capable of handling stress from irregular workload and demonstrate businesslike and professional attitude at all times.
• Strong verbal communication skills in English for interpersonal and telephone skills.
• Strong writing skills to include, but not limited to, legibility, neatness, and completeness of thought.
