Overview
Under direction, the purpose of the position is to daily operate an assigned school bus on an assigned transportation route for the school district. Work is performed in conjunction with bus monitoring personnel, and includes ensuring appropriate securing of students and the provision of required assistance to students with special medical needs. Performs related work as directed.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
40 hour/week trainee position, with expected movement into a full time position at 191 days, minimum 6 hours per day. Training usually lasts 4-5 weeks.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
• Provides daily school bus transportation for district students to and from destinations, to include field trips and special events.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Management, Public Administration or related field; or any equivalent combination of related education, training and/or experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
• Three (3) years of experience in transportation operations or related transportation field required.
• Must maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-bargaining Unit Compensation Plan, twelve months. May have some seasonal requirements to work beyond a normal business day. The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” during an emergency and can be subject to being held over or called back to a district location at all times.

• Ensure all bus operators comply with FDOE physical examination and annual dexterity test requirements.
