The Ohio History Connection is the state's history partner, and we spark discovery of Ohio stories by embracing the present, sharing the fast and transforming the future.
We need a natural storyteller with abilities to plan organization-wide strategies and keep in alignment with all media channels; craft inviting, engaging content in both educational and promotional formats; and analyze how our efforts are landing with our visitors, followers and stakeholders.
Applicants should have at least 2 years of professional experience or an equivalent aggregate demonstration of their skills, with a bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English or related field or equivalent in work experience.
The work environment is hybrid and flexible, balancing time in the Marketing office in the Ohio History Center in Columbus with remote work, site visits and event coverage. Occasional work-hours travel throughout state and the capacity to navigate sites to record social media material are required.
You would:
• Serve as the key social media creator and authority by developing content across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and TikTok, curating appropriate content for the specific platform.

Required Education, Skills, Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completed trade school certification field related to HVAC, boiler, and air-handling systems
• Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant building equipment maintenance experience with proven technical ability
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatics, fire sprinkler systems, OSHA regulations and regulatory/DOT
• Valid Ohio driver's license
• Electrical certification/license preferred
• Fork lift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Required Competencies:
• Ability to operate a powered industrial truck, preferably cherry picker and stand-up forklifts

Internship will involve the processing of archaeological collections, in particular, soil samples. This involves constantly saturating the soil with water and gently stirring it as needed. The lighter material such as charcoal, seeds and other plant material float to the top and run off into collection netting. What is left behind is put into a screen and gently sprayed with water until all the dirt is removed. Both light and heavy material (aka fraction) are then dried. Once dry, the fractions are examined and separated by artifact type. Afterward they will be added to the catalog for each collection and shelved. Department hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday and the successful applicant would need to be able to work any time within those hours/days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Keep a log of what soils are being processed.
• Do flotation of soil samples.
• Dry light and heavy fractions.
• Sort heavy fraction by artifact/object type.
• Add the light and heavy fraction information to the existing catalog.
• Shelve light and heavy fractions.
Work Environment
Since the project involves working outside with water and dirt, expect to get wet and dirty and dress accordingly. Additional work will be in a lab setting.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
Required education and experience
Must be a current student or recent graduate. No experience necessary.
