The Office of the General Counsel ( OGC ) is seeking an assistant or associate general counsel ( AGC ). The AGC will join the General Counsel, who reports directly to the president, and five other attorneys in an energetic, collaborative office that provides legal advice to a broad range of university academic and administrative senior leadership and offices and to the university's Board of Trustees.

The OGC is a fast-paced, high-volume workplace. Its attorneys handle multiple, unrelated matters concurrently. The AGC must be able to complete complex projects both independently and with direction from the General Counsel and Senior Associate General Counsels, as needed. The AGC will work with a variety of university administrators and must have or develop knowledge of legal areas that may include labor and employment, civil rights, constitutional law, public records, public finance, student affairs, intellectual property, technology transfer, information technology, research transactions, design and construction transactions, procurement, purchasing and contracts, real property matters, risk management, law enforcement and compliance. Position Summary

The School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 9-month, tenure-track Professor position.

This position will leverage research interests and expertise in human-automation interaction to lead a new industrial engineering research and education program across all degree levels associated with the future of work for humans and intelligent systems. Expertise in human factors analysis, cognitive workload, and situation awareness assessment for human performance with complex automated systems is of particular interest. Faculty collaboration opportunities include but are not limited to the Collaborative Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CoRIS) Institute and the Artificial Intelligence program. This position will be expected to initiate new externally funded research as well as expand, complement, and collaborate with existing research programs in the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering, the College of Engineering, and beyond. The incumbent will conduct original research, build relationships with industry partners, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.

Position Duties

50% Teaching: Develop and teach industrial engineering courses in the school’s curriculum, consisting of a mix of courses: large and small, graduate and undergraduate, and potentially, a mix of modalities. Advise students in projects; conduct student assessments, including proper documentation to support ABET / ACCE accreditation; participate as a member of Ph.D. and M.S. committees; hold office hours; and mentor and advise students on professional aspects of the field. Lead the development of distinctive new and/or revised degree and non-credential programs in industrial engineering that unites research in industrial engineering, robotics, and artificial intelligence and addresses industry demand for industrial engineers who can coordinate humans and automated, intelligent systems working together at scale.

40% Research and scholarly activities: Engage in research activities in the area of human-automation interaction including interface technology for special populations for the discovery of new knowledge and understanding, the integration and application of research, and the dissemination of knowledge, as defined in the Criteria for Promotion and Tenure in the faculty handbook. Develop and lead a sustainable externally funded research program that is nationally and internationally significant and visible. Publish research in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and other outlets, as appropriate; produce patents; write proposals; conduct funded and unfunded research; present results at professional conferences, meetings, other institutions, and industry; and direct and mentor Ph.D. and M.S. students in all aspects of research and professional development. Develop, lead, and engage in a research program that unites industrial engineering, robotics, and artificial intelligence to address human-automation interaction.

10% Service: Participate as a collegial member of the unit and perform appropriate service that contributes to the effectiveness of the School, the College, the University, and the profession. Service includes participation in and leadership of School, College, and University committees, attendance at faculty meetings, mentorship of junior faculty, and contributions to outreach activities. Participation in service to the profession, including serving as a reviewer or editor for journals and conferences, leadership roles in professional organizations, reviewing proposals, and conference organization, should be pursued as appropriate.

Minimum/Required Qualifications
• PhD in industrial engineering or other relevant field prior to the position start date.
• Established research program in human-automation interaction.
• Experience in leading multi-institution, multi-PI research projects funded by state and/or federal agencies.
• Distinguished research reputation.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and leading credentialed and non-credentialed academic programs in industrial engineering.
• A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and/or professional service.

The School of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences ( SOBE ) is one of two Schools in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences ( CPHHS ).

SOBE includes academic programs in Health Management & Policy ( HMP ), Health Promotion & Health Behavior ( HPHB ), and Human Development & Family Sciences ( HDFS ). The School has large and very successful undergraduate programs, as well as masters and doctoral programs.

It also houses tenure-lines for faculty in HDFS at the OSU – Cascades Campus in Bend, and in Extension Family and Community Health and Extension 4-H Youth Development. In addition, the School includes the Child Development Center, which offers an accredited early education program funded partially through external funds.
