Position Summary

This position will leverage research interests and expertise in human-automation interaction to lead a new industrial engineering research and education program across all degree levels associated with the future of work for humans and intelligent systems. 50% Teaching: Develop and teach industrial engineering courses in the school’s curriculum, consisting of a mix of courses: large and small, graduate and undergraduate, and potentially, a mix of modalities. Advise students in projects; conduct student assessments, including proper documentation to support ABET / ACCE accreditation; participate as a member of Ph.D. and M.S. committees; hold office hours; and mentor and advise students on professional aspects of the field. Lead the development of distinctive new and/or revised degree and non-credential programs in industrial engineering that unites research in industrial engineering, robotics, and artificial intelligence and addresses industry demand for industrial engineers who can coordinate humans and automated, intelligent systems working together at scale.

The School of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences ( SOBE ) is one of two Schools in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences ( CPHHS ).
SOBE includes academic programs in Health Management & Policy ( HMP ), Health Promotion & Health Behavior ( HPHB ), and Human Development & Family Sciences ( HDFS ). The School has large and very successful undergraduate programs, as well as masters and doctoral programs.

In addition, the School includes the Child Development Center, which offers an accredited early education program funded partially through external funds. The School of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences ( SOBE ) is one of two Schools in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences ( CPHHS ).
SOBE includes academic programs in Health Management & Policy ( HMP ), Health Promotion & Health Behavior ( HPHB ), and Human Development & Family Sciences ( HDFS ). The School has large and very successful undergraduate programs, as well as masters and doctoral programs.
It also houses tenure-lines for faculty in HDFS at the OSU – Cascades Campus in Bend, and in Extension Family and Community Health and Extension 4-H Youth Development. In addition, the School includes the Child Development Center, which offers an accredited early education program funded partially through external funds. It also offers the University-wide Certificate in Gerontology to undergraduate students from throughout OSU . The School also has very active and externally funded research programs.

Position Summary
The Department of Microbiology at Oregon State University invites
applications for a Department Head, with an accompanying
appointment as tenured Professor. The incumbent will hold two
appointments, a 0.75 FTE professional faculty position and a 0.25
FTE tenured Professor position, reflecting job duties in both the
administrative and academic arenas during the academic year.
In addition, the leadership responsibilities of the Department Head
position continue during the summer months and these are accounted
for through a separate summer appointment. The Head reports to the
Dean of the College of Science. The Head is an integral part of the
College Leadership Teams (CLT) in both the College of Science and
the College of Agricultural Sciences working closely with the Deans
to advance the mission of the Colleges, develop strategy and
participate in decisions impacting the finances and budget of the
department.
The Department of Microbiology is jointly administered by the
College of Science (COS) and the College of Agricultural Sciences
(CAS). The primary mission of the Department is to provide
undergraduate and graduate education, and conduct basic and applied
research. The Department offers PhD and MS degrees in Microbiology
and BS degrees in Microbiology and BioHealth Sciences (also
available online at OSU's Ecampus), and is committed to providing
equitable access to quality learning and career development at all
levels. It is an integral part of the School of Life Sciences which
also includes the Departments of Biochemistry & Biophysics and
Integrative Biology. The Department of Microbiology has research
programs in wide ranging aspects of environmental and health
related microbiology. Areas of particular interest include
molecular and cellular virology, viral pathogenesis, host-pathogen
interactions using a variety of animal models, antivirals and
vaccines, epidemiology, viral ecology, diversity and evolution,
zoonotic and vector-borne viruses, as well as the human virome and
interaction with other microbiome constituents. Research endeavors
that link to local strengths in microbial pathogenesis, microbiome
research, and data science are encouraged.
The Department has 14 tenure-track faculty members, 4 instructors
and 4 advisors, 1 professional faculty, 4 classified staff, and
approximately 120 majors in Microbiology, 800 majors in BioHealth
Sciences, and about 40 graduate students. Several tenure-track
faculty members share appointments with other departments,
including in the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of
Pharmacy and the College of Earth Ocean and Atmospheric
Sciences.
The Department Head is responsible for the management and
leadership of the Department's teaching, research, and service and
outreach functions. The Head is expected to provide effective
academic leadership, strategic vision and to remain active in
teaching and research. The Department Head will integrate, advocate
and advance equity & inclusive excellence within all aspects of
their work. They will continuously refine the department's mission,
vision and values to align with the mission and vision of COS, CAS
and Oregon State University.
The Head reports to the Dean of the College of Science and is an
integral part of both of the College Leadership Teams working
closely with the Deans of COS and CAS to advance the mission of
both colleges, develop strategy and participate in decisions
impacting the finances and budget of the Department of
Microbiology.
The Head will collaborate with the microbiology faculty and staff
in leading the development and implementation of the strategic and
diversity plans of the department and in connecting strategy to
resources and budget to maintain and improve the fiscal health of
the department. The Head will provide leadership for faculty in the
development of policies and programs to improve student recruitment
& success and address opportunity gaps for Pell-eligible, First
Generation students, Students of Color and students from other
underrepresented communities in STEM. Specific duties are to
oversee budgetary and hiring and salary decisions, communicate
vision and mission of the department to the college and university,
set policy for the department, authorize proposal submissions for
department mission, oversee completion of regular reporting
required by the college and university, enhance diversity, foster
collaborations across departments and colleges; engage community
stakeholders as appropriate (e.g. engaging with alumni), and help
with fundraising for the department, college and university. The

Position Summary
The Department of Microbiology at Oregon State University invites

and BS degrees in Microbiology and BioHealth Sciences (also

levels. It is an integral part of the School of Life Sciences which
also includes the Departments of Biochemistry & Biophysics and
Integrative Biology. The Department of Microbiology has research
programs in wide ranging aspects of environmental and health
related microbiology. Areas of particular interest include
molecular and cellular virology, viral pathogenesis, host-pathogen
interactions using a variety of animal models, antivirals and
vaccines, epidemiology, viral ecology, diversity and evolution,
zoonotic and vector-borne viruses, as well as the human virome and
interaction with other microbiome constituents. Research endeavors
that link to local strengths in microbial pathogenesis, microbiome
research, and data science are encouraged.
The Department has 14 tenure-track faculty members, 4 instructors
and 4 advisors, 1 professional faculty, 4 classified staff, and
approximately 120 majors in Microbiology, 800 majors in BioHealth
Sciences, and about 40 graduate students. Several tenure-track
faculty members share appointments with other departments,
including in the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of
Pharmacy and the College of Earth Ocean and Atmospheric

The Department Head is responsible for the management and
leadership of the Department's teaching, research, and service and

mathematics and in actuarial science. The graduate program leads to
the MA, MS, and PhD degrees in mathematics and includes
approximately 58 graduate students. The mathematics department
offers a variety of lower division undergraduate courses through
our Ecampus, ranging from elementary algebra to probability and
vector calculus.
The Department Head is responsible for the management and
leadership of the department's teaching, research, and outreach and
service functions. The Head is expected to provide effective
academic leadership, strategic vision and to remain active in
teaching and research. The Department Head will integrate, advocate
and advance equity & inclusive excellence within all aspects of
their work in the College of Science. They will continuously refine
the department's mission, vision and values to align with the
College of Science and Oregon State University.
The Head will collaborate with the mathematics faculty and staff in
leading the development and implementation of the strategic and
diversity plans of the department and in connecting strategy to
resources and budget to maintain and improve the fiscal health of
the department. The Head will provide leadership for faculty in the
development of policies and programs to improve student recruitment
& success and address opportunity gaps for Pell-eligible, First
Generation students, Students of Color, students from low income
backgrounds and students from other underrepresented communities in
STEM. Specific duties are to oversee budgetary, hiring and salary
decisions, communicate vision and mission of the department to the
college and university, set policy for the department, authorize
proposal submissions for department mission, oversee completion of
regular reporting required by the college and university, enhance
diversity, foster collaborations across departments and colleges;
engage community stakeholders as appropriate (e.g. engaging with
alumni), and help with fundraising for the department, college and
university.

Position Summary
The Division of Extension and Engagement is seeking a Director of Professional and Continuing Education. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Professional and Continuing Education ( PACE ) unit resides in the Division of Extension and Engagement (Division) at Oregon State University ( OSU ). The PACE unit is a self-supported unit. The Director of PACE reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Engagement and will be located in Corvallis or Portland, Oregon. Members of the PACE team are geographically distributed. The Division will fund the Director of PACE position for three years, after which the unit will be responsible to fund the position.
The Director of PACE leads and provides strategic direction and oversight for the development and expansion of non-credit continuing education courses and professional programs, assesses opportunities, identifies and establishes relationships with internal and external partners, and manages finances.
The director oversees PACE personnel to establish, document and evaluate partnerships and collaborations with government agencies and departments, businesses, corporations, private organizations, educational institutions from K-12 through community colleges and other public and private universities to further access to lifelong learning opportunities within a self-support business model. The director identifies, seeks, and manages the development courses and programs in the areas of workforce development, professional continuing education, economic development programs, certification and licensure, university enrichment courses, and precollege engagement and interaction. The director manages human, financial, and physical resources; develops procedures and processes to attain enrollment and budget goals; and meets compliance requirements needed to support programs that serve continuing education participants.
The director develops, implements, and evaluates short and long-term goals related to professional and continuing education and is a strategic thinker who ensures that the PACE unit is self-sustaining and directed toward achieving the strategic goals of Oregon State University and the Division. The director may represent the unit at campus meetings or on committees.

Position Duties

50% Leadership, management, and strategic planning
• Provides leadership and vision for the Division’s efforts in professional and continuing education, including the creation and management of programs in the areas of workforce development, continuing education, economic development, certification and licensure, university enrichment and precollege engagement.
• Provides clear and innovative leadership for the PACE unit. Members of this geographically distributed unit work both in-person and virtually. Leads and manages an assistant director, project managers, and technical and enrollment services personnel. This position plans, assigns and approves work; responds to grievances; hires/fires; prepares and signs performance evaluations/reviews of employees. Identifies and supports professional development opportunities and coordinates participation.
• Collaborates with other university units to achieve Division and university goals, including program proposal assessment, noncredit technology solutions and operations infrastructure, award nominations and other forms of recognition, research activities, multimedia production, Division communications and event planning.
• Develops and implements a strategic plan for the PACE unit that aligns unit goals with the OSU Strategic Plan 4.0 (or most current), the Division of Extension and Engagement’s Strategic Plan, and the needs of learners/clientele.
• Serves as a member of the senior leadership team of the Division.
25% Develops and maintains productive partnerships
• Forms partnerships with OSU colleges and external partners to collaborate in providing lifelong learning and professional and continuing education opportunities offered by Oregon State University. Travel is required for collaboration.
• Uses proven research tools to assess needs and market for potential programs, courses, certificates and other lifelong learning opportunities. Identifies potential partners for collaboration and program development.
15% Budget development and management
• Collaborates with the Associate Vice Provost for Engagement and the Division’s fiscal officer to set and clarify revenue goals for PACE .
• Provides oversight and development of all PACE self-funded programs, tracking key performance indicators to assess the financial strength of programs.
• Works with internal business support and the OSU Controller’s Financial Strategic Services Unit to provide internal and external program partners and leadership accurate and timely program budget reports.
• Monitors and approves PACE operations and travel expenditures.
5% Reporting
• Reports on how unit goals align with and support the Division, university, and clientele.
• Assures that operational systems and processes are in place for maximum, data informed effectiveness of professional and continuing education course and program development.
5% Professional development and service
• Represents OSU ; attends relevant workshops, conferences and meetings, presenting and sharing knowledge and expertise and networking with colleagues; and communicates accomplishments and impacts.
• Provides service to both the unit and university by working on departmental, Division, university, regional and national committees and projects.
• Engages in ongoing professional development to stay current on subject matter expertise. Shares knowledge with the Division of Extension and Engagement team and networks with colleagues.
• Contributes to equity, inclusion and diversity as part of assigned duties and/or service

Minimum/Required Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Adult Education, Learning & Development, Communications, Business Administration or applicable field.
• Minimum six years of experience of proven effective leadership and management, with at least two of those years as full-time professional experience providing leadership in managing internal (Higher Education) and/or external (Corporate) relationships.
• Demonstrated success working in professional and continuing education or workforce training in a corporate, non-profit, governmental, or educational setting.
• Demonstrated success growing a program that involves determining staffing needs and managing a complex budget.
• Experience in fiscal analysis to project growth and partner revenue-sharing models.
• Excellent written, digital, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, especially communicating persuasively and clearly with other professional colleagues.
• Demonstrated experience successfully participating in, building and leading effective and diverse work teams.

Position Summary
The Division of Extension and Engagement is seeking a Director of Professional and Continuing Education. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Professional and Continuing Education ( PACE ) unit resides in the Division of Extension and Engagement (Division) at Oregon State University ( OSU ). The PACE unit is a self-supported unit. The Director of PACE reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Engagement and will be located in Corvallis or Portland, Oregon. Members of the PACE team are geographically distributed. The Division will fund the Director of PACE position for three years, after which the unit will be responsible to fund the position.
The Director of PACE leads and provides strategic direction and oversight for the development and expansion of non-credit continuing education courses and professional programs, assesses opportunities, identifies and establishes relationships with internal and external partners, and manages finances.
The director oversees PACE personnel to establish, document and evaluate partnerships and collaborations with government agencies and departments, businesses, corporations, private organizations, educational institutions from K-12 through community colleges and other public and private universities to further access to lifelong learning opportunities within a self-support business model. The director identifies, seeks, and manages the development courses and programs in the areas of workforce development, professional continuing education, economic development programs, certification and licensure, university enrichment courses, and precollege engagement and interaction. The director manages human, financial, and physical resources; develops procedures and processes to attain enrollment and budget goals; and meets compliance requirements needed to support programs that serve continuing education participants.
The director develops, implements, and evaluates short and long-term goals related to professional and continuing education and is a strategic thinker who ensures that the PACE unit is self-sustaining and directed toward achieving the strategic goals of Oregon State University and the Division. The director may represent the unit at campus meetings or on committees.

Position Summary
The Food Science & Technology is seeking a Lead Advisor. This is a part-time (0.70 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The FST Lead Advisor contributes to the academic programs of the department by leading the undergraduate advising efforts in Food Science, working with the undergraduate committee to manage the undergraduate curriculum, supporting student recruitment efforts, and overseeing programmatic efforts aimed at student success and retention to graduation, career readiness, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The main role of the position is to lead advising that guides and supports current and incoming students through their undergraduate degree experience and facilitates their development for future professional success. The position engages people of all backgrounds in a variety of modes including face-to-face conversations, group meetings, and written communication. Much of the advising takes the form of direct one-on-one meetings with students (either face-to-face or via video conferencing platforms such as Zoom)
Additionally, the Lead Academic Advisor provides department oversight for various academic advising related services, programs and processes provided by the college, school or unit, including ensuring compliance with university and college/school policies and procedures as they pertain to degree completion.

Position Duties
50% Academic Advising
• employ OSU and nationally accepted practices to advise current and future students regarding their academic and career planning and progress.
• advises and orients students regarding university and major-specific regulations related to degree completion including interpreting transcripts, performing degree audits, assisting with course selection and registration, career counseling and making academic and personal referrals as needed.
• clarify university academic policy and procedures to assist students in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation.
• provide appropriate referrals, as needed, to support student wellness and success.
• support FST instruction by providing information, data, and guest lectures for Food Science Orientation ( FST 101). This course provides an introduction to the major and related careers and strategies for success to new students.
• support students participating in for-credit industry internships.
• assist FST students with job placement and collaborate with the department career team that supports prospective employers with recruiting.
40% Departmental Advising Management
• responsible for oversight and direction of FST advising by providing guidance to department advisor(s) and faculty mentors.
• ensures department-level academic advising related services, programs and processes comply with university and college/school policies and procedures as they pertain to degree completion.
• ensures the department follows policy and procedures for academic advising and related programming that are consistent with college, university and national practices.
• develops departmental undergraduate student retention programs including tracking and evaluating student progress.
• represents the department with CAS Head Advisor, Registrar, Admissions, Course Schedule Desk, and other units to maintain comprehensive awareness of university requirements, programs and procedures, and to advocate for policies and resources that support FST student success.
• work in collaboration with the undergraduate committee to continuously improve the program by identifying and implementing changes to curriculum, consulting on scheduling and mode of course offering, and monitoring impacts of departmental and university changes on student success and progress to graduation.
• lead the annual FST graduation recognition event in conjunction with the department head, academic program coordinator, and others.
• manage the FST internship program that provides regional/national/international experiential learning opportunities for undergrads.
• nominate and promote students for awards.
• act as the department point person with food and beverage industry to establish career opportunities.
• support student recruitment activities and serve on the undergraduate recruitment committee.
10% Service
The Lead Advisor will serve on the FST undergraduate, scholarship, recruiting, and career fair committees. The Lead Advisor may also be requested to serve on additional departmental, college and university committees and provide service to the community. The incumbent will participate in Diversity Equity and Inclusion training annually to promote equitable outcomes among learners of diverse and underrepresented identity groups.
Minimum/Required Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science in STEM or related field.
One year combined experience advising/mentoring students in a higher education environment. This includes areas such as degree completion requirements, STEM pathways, career/job counseling, mentoring/guidance, student advocacy, orientation, undergraduate education, and/or academic guidance.
Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq.
