We are seeking a Pastry Chef with a passion to learn or experience in preparing desserts, pastries, breads and other sweet delicacies. You should have a flair for baking high quality treats as well as a knack for inventing new flavors and recipes. You should also have a solid knowledge of culinary arts and a passion for making sweet and scrumptious creations. You should comply with health and safety regulations to ensure the best service for our clients.

Our aim is to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty so that we can grow and retain our customer base.

As a pastry chef, you will:
• Produce a range of baked goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, and bread, following both traditional and modern recipes
• Innovate new and appealing desserts to refresh our menus and attract customers
• Apply various icings, toppings, and other decorations to make pastries look stunning and appetizing
• Keep track of baking supplies, such as flour, sugar, etc., and order them within budget
• Ensure the quality of ingredients and the condition of equipment and tools used for baking
• Lead and inspire pastry assistants and bakers to work with efficiency and excellence
• Assess staffing needs and train staff members
• Keep your cooking station clean and organized and comply with health and safety regulations
• Assist in other stations, such as prep and salad/app, when needed, especially during peak hours and when baking/pastry is less busy

Skills required
• Ability to create exquisite and original pastries with a keen eye for detail and flair for creativity
• Skills in organizing, leading, and training other pastry staff
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement of professional skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and nutrition standards and practices
• Experience in baking or willingness to learn about various dietary restrictions and preferences (such as gluten-free, sugar-free, vegan, etc.)
• Demonstrates the Glenora values of excellence, hospitality, and teamwork to all guests and colleagues
• Ensures that every guest of Verasions Restaurant and the Inn at Glenora enjoys a memorable and satisfying dining experience
