Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Coordinates and works with the Transportation Planning Manager, city staff, engineers/consulting firms, and regional partners to develop and design a cohesive network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities through planning and engineering.
• Assists in the development of capital budgeting and procurement for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
• Collaborates with the City's ADA Advisory committee and ADA Coordinator.
• Manages bicycle and pedestrian data collection efforts, including the City’s automated counters, volunteer-based manual counts, and community services.
• Assists staff by assessing the potential bicycle and walking impacts of proposed developments and provides feedback on the alignment of development proposals with local bicycle and pedestrian policies, plans, and regulations when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

General Summary
Bicycle and Pedestrian options that are safe, connected, and convenient are critical to supporting the community and city’s vision, goals, and objectives for our transportation system. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator is responsible for improving bicycle and pedestrian safety, access, facilities, and awareness throughout the City of Charlottesville. This position performs a broad range of municipal transportation planning tasks specifically related to bicycling and walking. Responsible for managing the development and implementation of plans to improve the City’s bicycle and pedestrian network, and related projects, and leads the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
Reports to the Transportation Planning Manager. Work is performed under regular... supervision; work performed within this role is coordinated with Neighborhood Development Services and Public Works-Engineering staff, as well as other partners in the city and region. Primarily and most frequently the work done is performed independently, with diverse functional areas and more specialization and ability to train others.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Coordinates and works with the Transportation Planning Manager, city staff, engineers/consulting firms, and regional partners to develop and design a cohesive network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities through planning and engineering.
• Assists in the development of capital budgeting and procurement for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
• Collaborates with the City's ADA Advisory committee and ADA Coordinator.
• Manages bicycle and pedestrian data collection efforts, including the City’s automated counters, volunteer-based manual counts, and community services.
• Assists staff by assessing the potential bicycle and walking impacts of proposed developments and provides feedback on the alignment of development proposals with local bicycle and pedestrian policies, plans, and regulations when needed.
