Description

Founded in 1897, Piedmont University is a private, comprehensive liberal arts university with an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students at campuses in Demorest and Athens, Georgia. The Dean of Students, Director of Student Life will be responsible for:
• Set vision and direction for professional staff members in Student Life, Residential Living, Greek Life, Orientation, Student Events and Activities, Campus Recreation, and Leadership.
• Provides leadership and support for programs and events including major campus events, late night programming, weekly programs and oversees a comprehensive student organization development program based in student development theory and relevant leadership models.
• Review all code of conduct proceedings and assign to appropriate hearing officers accordingly (i.e., Housing violations versus student code of conduct violations)
• Serves as a critical member of the Student Life and Leadership Team who serves as a visible, present, and approachable leader of the Residential Living Office, representing the needs of 700 students in 10 residence halls with plans to grow by 10% over the next few years.
• Provides oversight for day-to-day operations of residence life including serving as functional lead for all areas of housing. They are also responsible for facilitating community development that enhances academic success and personal growth, participates in the department’s crisis response network, and provides on call support
• Oversees, implements, and reviews risk management and harm reduction strategies with campus programming.
• Provide yearly review of conduct proceedings and disseminate annual Student Handbook and Code of Conduct
• Provides training to Judicial Hearing panel and conduct hearing officers on a semesterly basis and serves as the Chief Conduct Officer.
• Remain current in best practices for engaging students, retention, and higher education legal issues through continued development.
• Develop programming initiatives to incorporate federal guidelines in student education (ex. Title IX, Clery, VAWA)
• Develop collaborative relationships with campus administrative areas, faculty, and campus and community leaders to enhance planning and implementing strategic initiatives, resolving issues, and responding to crisis incidents.
• Coordinate Student Affairs response to major crisis and other unusual events impacting students with the campus community. Develop strategies for promoting student engagement and learning in collaboration with Academic Affairs.
• Develop strategies for creating a vibrant student experience for all students: residents, commuters, traditional, adult, full-time, and part-time for both Campuses.
• Prepare appropriate reports; analyze and evaluate data, outcomes, and metrics to be used in strategic decision making.
• Assist with Summer Camp/ Conference and event registration logistics and operations in concert with appropriate campus partners.
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

On-site work is required. Selected incumbent must reside in campus housing or within a 45 minute drive to campus.

Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs.

Qualifications
• Master's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, psychology, leadership studies or another appropriate discipline
• Five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience of professional and student staff and student affairs processes/departments
• Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, communicative, and computer skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Evidence of creative approaches to problem solving, program creation, and program renewal
• Personal commitment to diversity and the ability to work with and validate those from different backgrounds
• Experience with and current understanding of theoretical models, best practices and contemporary issues in student development, engagement, and retention

The position entails a 4/4 teaching load, which would include four courses each during the fall and spring semesters. Specific teaching responsibilities will be to teach General Education and other introductory-level courses, such as Elementary Statistics, Pre-Calculus, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Mathematics for the Liberal Arts. These courses would be primarily taught face-to-face on our Demorest campus, but teaching responsibilities may include an occasional online course.

• Effective classroom teaching and interacting with students in a professional manner;
• Maintaining accurate and secure records of student grades, attendance, and advisement;
• Maintaining high standards of professionalism in the content, objectives, teaching, and grading of all courses;

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Successful incumbents will hold a Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field.
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.

The Controller, under the direction of the Associate Vice-President for Finance and Administration, oversees financial and reporting compliance activities with emphasis on general ledger accounting, payroll, tax, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, fixed assets, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis and reporting. Provides leadership to various accounting and financial boards and committees and maintains and responds to financial and accounting board directives. Develops, interprets, and maintains policies and regulations related to finance and reporting issues. Provides leadership and management to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Student Accounts, General and Grant Accounting, and Procurement staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
• Maintains accounting records in compliance with GAAP and FASB and other appropriate authoritative guidance
• Develops procedures and controls related to fixed assets, accounts payable, procurement, cash management, and investment and gift accounting
• Plan, direct and manage the general ledger to include control and management of the chart of accounts, account reconciliation and preparation of quarterly financial reporting and analysis, including budget to actual variance reporting
• Completes year-end closing procedures and assists in audits of financial operations
• Ensures accurate reporting of financial aid, including but not limited to, institutional scholarships, scholarships from external sources, federal aid, state aid, and other grants or awards
• Facilitates and manages the budgetary process. Enhances and develops campus-wide accounting and reporting procedures
• Plans and directs the recruitment, training and development of subordinates for areas of responsibility
• Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, and training sessions that are pertinent for continued development and education related to the position
• Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice-President for Administration and Finance
