The Division of Rheumatology at the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Department of Pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is recruiting a physician-scientist on the tenure track. The ideal candidate would be a rheumatologist with interest in developing a basic, translational, or clinical research program focused on autoimmunity, rheumatologic conditions, or related immune-mediated diseases. It is expected that the candidate chosen will establish an independent, extramurally funded research program and actively participate in the educational and clinical missions of the School of Medicine.

The position includes a competitive salary, laboratory space, and generous start-up funding.

Desired qualifications: an MBA or related industry experience. Experience structuring research collaborations, including developing SOWs and negotiating term sheets. Familiarity with intellectual property frameworks in sponsored research agreements. Familiarity with the research enterprise at a large research university. An established network of business development and research partnering contacts in the life sciences industry.

Specific topics of interest The Interdisciplinary Quantum Science for Fundamental Physics Initiative (the IQ Initiative), within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a senior postdoctoral research fellow position (the IQ Fellowship) in theoretical physics. Candidates with expertise at the interface of quantum science and fundamental physics, broadly defined, are especially encouraged to apply. Specific topics of interest include (i) emergent analogues of fundamental particles in quantum simulation platforms, (ii) probes of phenomena beyond the Standard Model of particle physics through precision many-body measurements with novel condensed matter materials or ultracold atomic, molecular, and photonic gases, (iii) modeling and experimentation to detect dark matter using engineered table-top quantum systems (iv) quantum field theoretic concepts that can be tested by and drive the design of next-generation quantum materials and technologies (v) advanced... solid-state materials and devices (in the form of new detectors) that can be exploited in particle physics experiments for improved time resolution and lower energy detection thresholds. The appointment will initially be for two years with the expectation of extension to a third year contingent upon performance. Generous salary and research funds will be provided to IQ Fellows. The IQ Initiative aims to become the center for scientific inquiry, training, and exchange in fundamental quantum physics. The IQ fellow will have the opportunity to organize seminars and focused topical workshops. Outstanding scientists with research expertise broadly related to cardiovascular pharmacology and chemical biology are highly encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates would expand current Department programs including GPCR signaling, signal transduction, structural biology, ion channel biology, neuropharmacology, and cancer pharmacology.
