Position Summary
Prairie State College seeks innovative adjunct faculty to teach a Journalism course online. This course prepares students to work on The Pioneer, Prairie State College's online newspaper publication.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following: excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a flexible, student-centered approach to teaching writing; the ability to engage a diverse student population; and familiarity with research/scholarship concerning pedagogy and the community college environment.
The English Department offers a collegial and supportive faculty peer environment, with opportunities for substantive faculty development.
Available offerings will be online asynchronous, but require regular virtual meetings with students (date time/frequency TBD).
Anticipated start date: May 2024
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in English or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Journalism.
Professional experience working in the journalism field.
Experience working with online student publications is strongly preferred.
Experience teaching at the community college level is strongly preferred.
Priority will be given to candidates with graduate coursework and/or training in the teaching of writing.
Salary: Adjunct faculty members at PSC are paid by the number of hours they are in the classroom (contact hours). Pay Schedule for new adjunct faculty: $864.44 per credit hour

Successful candidates will have a desire to engage a diverse student population in various levels of electrical studies. Successful candidate will have flexible teaching schedule. Classes meet one day week for eight, 14 or 16 weeks. Day classes meet 10:00 AM - 1:40 PM. Evening classes meet 6:00 PM - 9:40 PM.

Electric Wiring for Residential and Commercials
Conduit Bending and Threading
Programmable Logic Controls (Siemens preferred)
