Successful candidates will demonstrate the following: excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a flexible, student-centered approach to teaching writing; the ability to engage a diverse student population; and familiarity with research/scholarship concerning pedagogy and the community college environment.

The English Department offers a collegial and supportive faculty peer environment, with opportunities for substantive faculty development.

Available offerings will be online asynchronous, but require regular virtual meetings with students (date time/frequency TBD).

Anticipated start date: May 2024

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in English or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Journalism.

Professional experience working in the journalism field.

Experience working with online student publications is strongly preferred.

Experience teaching at the community college level is strongly preferred.

Priority will be given to candidates with graduate coursework and/or training in the teaching of writing.

• Demonstrated leadership in curriculum and program development.

• Remain current on financial aid regulations by attending seminars, workshops, webinars and reading the federal student aid handbook, code of federal regulations and other printed materials.
• Maintains data entry using Colleague integrated software system by inputting data from Student Aid Report (SAR) and develops initial student profile.
• Ability to schedule time and work efficiently under the pressure of deadlines without immediate supervision.
• Provide back up to departmental staff when needed and in their absence.
• Review reports and resolve discrepancies related to student file processing.
• Performs a variety of support functions, which are primarily routine in nature, but require knowledge of the general operating procedures of the department.
• Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the department, consistent with the role of this position.
