To help us reach our goals and keep us moving forward, we need a data engineer who knows how to build the pipe end to end--from requirements collection to post-rollout support and QA. Who we're looking for A collaborative self-starter, with a keen attention to detail You know the tools of the trade. You have a solid understanding of data warehousing tools and technology like Snowflake and AWS, as well as ETL tools like FiveTran and dbt. You're experienced with reporting tools such as Tableau, and you can manipulate and analyze data in SQL and Python like a pro. Familiarity with other tools like Heap, Google Analytics, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Zendesk are a plus too. You're self-motivated. Once you are confident in what you need to do, you can run with it and don't need a lot of direction. You have strong self-structure and discipline and have worked remotely either currently or in the past so you know the benefits and the challenges. At the same time, you don't silo yourself, and are always eager to learn more and share with the team. You like variety. Not only will you be handling all kinds of systems, apps, and technologies -- like the tools mentioned above--but you'll need to help with execution, QA, and other aspects of our database management. You relish new challenges and get excited by the prospect of wearing multiple hats. You're flexible. You have the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize your work in a changing environment. You understand that things change as new information is made available, and can flip from one project to another at the drop of a hat when your attention is needed. You're a stickler for the details. You are careful, cautious and incredibly meticulous. Some may even call you nitpicky (in an endearing way, of course). You can spot the smallest mistake before it throws a database off course. Nothing slips by the net when you're the goalie. You work well with others. You aren't just here to take orders--you're an expert in your field who knows how to take charge without shutting others out of the process. You can take ideas from multiple sources and synthesize them into a clear course of action--and then execute it with aplomb. You're an exceptional communicator. You know how to get your message across clearly and concisely. You know how to say it, write it and present it in both layman's terms and a bit more formally if needed. What you'll be doing Learning the company's data needs. You'll work with people across the company to assess what data we need to gather. That means:
Interviewing stakeholders, the analytics team, and users. Work Description

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Nutritional Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University seeks applications for two tenure-track positions. These positions are open at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenure-eligible) rank. These positions will complement the research of existing faculty within the Department and across the University, which includes research related to the prevention of cardiovascular disease; ingestive behavior; mechanisms of obesity; studies of diet, physical activity, and cancer prevention; maternal child health including pregnancy and lactation; research on genetic models of inflammation; epidemiology, and global health nutrition. We are seeking candidates in the area of Precision Nutrition. These hires will be co-funded by Penn State’s Department of Nutritional Sciences http://nutrition.hhd.psu.edu and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences https://www.huck.psu.edu/ . The tenure home will be in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. These positions come with a competitive start-up package and salary based on 36-weeks of service annually, which can be supplemented with additional salary up to a total of 48 weeks from external competitive grants and contracts and/or from endowment funds.
Research has indicated that a one-size-fits-all approach may not be effective in disease prevention and management. Precision health aims to incorporate individual characteristics, lifestyle, and environment to optimize health. Precision health is inclusive of precision medicine and precision public health, and in the context of nutrition, has been highlighted as an NIH priority with the creation of the Nutrition for Precision Health initiative under the All of Us program. Biopsychosocial models contribute to the interindividual variation of nutrition interventions—these variations contribute to health inequities. Precision nutrition asserts that these relationships are bidirectional, with complex links to genomic, metabolomic, social, psychological, dietary, and environmental components. We will consider applicants whose research includes animal models and/or human research. Applicants will be expected to maintain a successful research program and to teach in the Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Qualifications
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with:

• Potential for (Assistant Professor) or proficiency in (Associate Professor) teaching and mentoring students

About the Department of Nutritional Sciences
The National Research Council ranked Penn State’s Graduate Program in Nutritional Sciences among the nation’s best. The Department has 26 full-time faculty. About the Huck Institutes of Life Sciences
The Huck Institutes might best be imagined as a web—or maybe as a series of bridges, built and maintained by dedicated researchers, between various University institutions that would have otherwise been isolated islands. The more these bridges are built up, the better we get at communicating and collaborating across the life sciences, and the better we get at solving problems and having real impacts on science and society.
For this position, the key Huck Institute units and initiatives we would expect a precision nutrition hire to collaborate with groups such as:
• Microbiome Center (with >100 faculty from 10 colleges)
• Metabolomics expertise, with recent investment, instrumentation and faculty expertise across several colleges to handle population-level initiatives on diet, metabolism and health outcomes, not least in disadvantaged populations
• Center for Medical Genomics/Genome Sciences Institute, where we have world-leading faculty in statistics and genomics, including precision genomics initiative as part of University Health Science Council biomedical initiative
• Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics and/or Center for Molecular Immunology and Infectious Diseases, where there is expertise in inflammation and global health

The Department of Nutritional Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University seeks applications for two tenure-track positions. These positions are open at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenure-eligible) rank. These positions will complement the research of existing faculty within the Department and across the University, which includes research related to the prevention of cardiovascular disease; ingestive behavior; mechanisms of obesity; studies of diet, physical activity, and cancer prevention; maternal child health including pregnancy and lactation; research on genetic models of inflammation; epidemiology, and global health nutrition. We are seeking candidates in the area of Precision Nutrition. These hires will be co-funded by Penn State’s Department of Nutritional Sciences http://nutrition.hhd.psu.edu and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences https://www.huck.psu.edu/ . The tenure home will be in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. These positions come with a competitive start-up package and salary based on 36-weeks of service annually, which can be supplemented with additional salary up to a total of 48 weeks from external competitive grants and contracts and/or from endowment funds.
Research has indicated that a one-size-fits-all approach may not be effective in disease prevention and management. Precision health aims to incorporate individual characteristics, lifestyle, and environment to optimize health. Precision health is inclusive of precision medicine and precision public health, and in the context of nutrition, has been highlighted as an NIH priority with the creation of the Nutrition for Precision Health initiative under the All of Us program. Biopsychosocial models contribute to the interindividual variation of nutrition interventions—these variations contribute to health inequities. Precision nutrition asserts that these relationships are bidirectional, with complex links to genomic, metabolomic, social, psychological, dietary, and environmental components. We will consider applicants whose research includes animal models and/or human research. Applicants will be expected to maintain a successful research program and to teach in the Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching and service expectations will be appropriate to Penn State’s mission as a Land Grant (https://www.aplu.org/about-us/history-of-aplu/what-is-a-land-grant-university/) university.
Qualifications
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with:
• An earned Doctoral Degree in nutrition, physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or closely related field (Ph.D., MD, and/or equivalent) is required
• Evidence of original research published in peer-reviewed journals (Assistant & Associate Professor) and potential for (Assistant Professor) or track record (Associate Professor) of extramural funding
• Potential for (Assistant Professor) or proficiency in (Associate Professor) teaching and mentoring students
• Research that is synergistic with core areas of the strategic plans of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, the College of Health and Human Development, and Penn State overall, of which Enhancing Health is one of five thematic priorities (http://strategicplan.psu.edu/thematic-priorities/ )

About the Huck Institutes of Life Sciences

The more these bridges are built up, the better we get at communicating and collaborating across the life sciences, and the better we get at solving problems and having real impacts on science and society.
For this position, the key Huck Institute units and initiatives we would expect a precision nutrition hire to collaborate with groups such as:
• Microbiome Center (with >100 faculty from 10 colleges)
• Metabolomics expertise, with recent investment, instrumentation and faculty expertise across several colleges to handle population-level initiatives on diet, metabolism and health outcomes, not least in disadvantaged populations
• Center for Medical Genomics/Genome Sciences Institute, where we have world-leading faculty in statistics and genomics, including precision genomics initiative as part of University Health Science Council biomedical initiative
• Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics and/or Center for Molecular Immunology and Infectious Diseases, where there is expertise in inflammation and global health
The hires would also contribute to growing faculty expertise in the Intercollege Graduate Degree Program in Neuroscience, Bioinformatics and Genomics, Physiology, or Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Biosciences.

The successful candidate will devote approximately 50% effort to obtaining, implementing, or overseeing funded research and 50% to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicant is expected to conduct human research and collaborate with ongoing research in the Department and the School.
Minimum Qualifications:

DUTIES:
• Manage patient cases from beginning to goal weight using established treatment methods, which includes:
• Thorough patient evaluation
• Individualized treatment plan focused on normalizing brain and gut hormones.
• Counseling focused on enhancing motivation and behavior modification/change strategies
• Physical activity program
• Schedule patient appointments and keep clinic schedule updated
• Keep medical notes on each patient utilizing online patient database
• Respond to phone and email inquiries from potential patients and referral sources
• Participant in monthly clinical team meetings and weekly check in meetings.
• Research oriented
• Support Clinic Nutrition Manager and Psychologist with other duties, as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) and/or State Certified in New York State (CDN)
• CDE a plus
• 1 year clinical/private practice experience a must
• MS degree in clinical nutrition a plus
• Obesity counseling experience a must
• English/Spanish a big plus but not required
• Proficient with ALL Microsoft Office programs (including EXCEL)
• Tech saavy re: use of apps./Google Chat/Google Meets and facetime
