Day-to-day Responsibilities...
• End to end management of Data Subject Requests (DSR’s) under GDPR, CCPA, or other global privacy laws, including:
• Tracking and logging of all DSR’s on the workflow system and ensuring DSR’s are completed within firm and regulatory timelines.
• Utilizing various firm systems and liaising with business stakeholders, including HR, in order to gather all relevant personal data.
• Reviewing and assessing personal data content, identifying and redacting privileged, confidential and non-personal data, and applying relevant privacy law exemptions
• Update and maintain records of processing, privacy impact assessment documentation and other regulatory record keeping requirements.
• Develop and maintain current knowledge and understanding of the changing privacy regulatory landscape, including new laws and regulations, court decisions, contractual provisions and industry standards impacting Kroll’s business.
• Respond to data subject and third-party queries or complaints that come into the privacy team mailbox.
• Review and assess privacy controls for potential vendors and ensure appropriate contractual arrangements are in place
• Review of privacy terms or data processing addendums for client engagements
• Provide support to the Information Governance Manager, including supporting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with enterprise standards related to information classification, records retention, and information governance (up to 25%)

Essential Traits
• Bachelor’s degree
• Understanding of CCPA/CPRA and other US privacy laws and GDPR, familiarity with other global privacy laws a plus
• Minimum 2-3 years in a legal, compliance, risk, audit, or similar function
• Experience working in a large organization with complex infrastructures and technological environments. Understanding of data processing operations, including business applications and data use
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word and Excel. SharePoint experience a plus. Relativity or similar experience a plus.
• CIPM and/or CIPP/E certification preferred but not required.
• Experience in reviewing privacy-related contractual arrangements and data processing addendums
• Experience in tracking cross border data transfers and conducting transfer impact assessments a plus

Updates appropriate customer relationship management to ensure appropriate pipeline reporting
Reviews client executive reports, and provides feedback to team members
Develops proposals, responds to RFP/RFI’s and ensures Master Service Agreements and engagement letters are managed according to BDO standards
Utilizes knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans, establish reporting and metrics, and provide client with regular updates
Participates in and conducts business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings, as needed
Proofreads and edits executive reports, prior to presenting to prospects and existing clients
Manages BDO client and BDO Partner expectations at all levels
Mentors team members to ensure quality of work product is consistent throughout client engagements, and BDO standards are applied for every engagement
Manages multiple large, complex and potentially long-term engagements and clients
Manages client expectations at all levels of the organization, including supporting in-person presentations to senior level executives
Support the Data Protection Officer for clients, as required
Develops and manages project budgets, reviews invoices for consistency, and ensures that invoices are delivered in a timely manner
Acts as a leader, and projects a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel
Manages a team of professionals on a project or regional basis

About the role

As the founding member of Ramp's Privacy team, you will help develop, execute and scale our global privacy strategy.

You will drive initiatives to identify and address domestic and international data protection requirements, define technical and policy solutions, and support internal education and training. You will also represent the company externally in customer, partner and regulatory matters.

The ideal candidate will have experience building and managing privacy programs for businesses operating in complex, rapidly changing, nebulous areas of law and policy, balancing competing concerns, and translating broad principles into concrete solutions.

What you'll do
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Security and Legal to develop and optimize our privacy strategy by combining a deep understanding of regulation with creative product strategy and technical acumen
• Monitor and help Ramp maintain compliance with state, federal and international privacy laws, and the implications of product development, marketing strategies and employment practices
• Develop and help negotiate data privacy terms and produce collateral for partnerships and customer deals
• Manage and help identify ways to automate privacy processes like data subject requests, privacy impact assessments, customer diligence and audits
• Serve as the main point of contact for employees and regulators on issues related to data protection
• Continuously improve privacy practices through training and education

What you'll need
• Minimum of 6 years working in a privacy-focused role, ideally for a top-tier law firm that supported high-growth technology companies or directly for a high-growth technology company
• J.D. with a strong academic background or experience in a privacy officer, privacy program management, or related role
• Experience leading broad cross-functional initiatives, including managing resourcing from other teams, getting alignment on contentious topics, and completing large projects
• Deep knowledge of privacy laws in the US, Europe, and other international markets
• Hands-on experience building privacy programs
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills

Nice to haves
• Experience working with payment or financial technology systems
• Background in engineering or computer science
