The successful candidate will work within the Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry (USCP), Newham Centre for Mental Health. The overall aim of PIECEs is to improve the quality of community-based care for people with psychosis in India and Pakistan by adapting and testing DIALOG+, and up-scaling through the use of participatory arts methodologies and community engagement. The post... holder will support research investigations and be in charge of the day-to-day management of PIECEs in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Professor Victoria Bird. Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is a world class, multidisciplinary grouping of academics. Its focus is on population health, spanning public and global health, health services research, health policy, genomics and data science, behavioural and social sciences. WIPH delivers evidence to implement health system change for population benefit.

The Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry (USCP) is part of the WIPH and supported by East London NHS Foundation Trust. It is located in the London Borough of Newham, in East London. Since 2012, the Unit is a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre (the only one specifically for Mental Health Service Development worldwide), and since 2022 it hosts a NIHR Global Health Research Centre for the Community Treatment of Long-Term Conditions. The research is multi-disciplinary, aims to innovate and involves the development and testing of novel interventions in mental health care. Since 2013, the Unit has generated more than £40m competitive research, mostly from the National Institute for Health Research, the European Commission and the Medical Research Council. Currently, the Unit consists of about 35 full time researchers, PhD students, and managerial/administrative staff.

Alongside producing high-impact publications, you’ll put together motion graphics, gifs and other dynamic digital content to support the team’s broader content agenda. You’ll work alongside other content and design experts to produce audience-focused content aimed at student recruitment and enhancing Queen Mary’s reputation. About You

The successful candidate will require experience and expertise in graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite. Alongside experience putting together publications – ranging from flyers and posters to multi-page documents, such as reports – you’ll have an impressive portfolio of multimedia projects behind you. Most importantly, you’ll bring a... proactive and thoughtful approach to the role, and will be willing to interrogate and improve briefs as they arrive.

A Biomedical Scientist is required to join a small, self-funding, diagnostic/research core facility based at Whitechapel. The main duties will include: ensuring consumables and equipment are fit for purpose and maintained to the required safety standards; preparing Standard Operating Procedures to comply with both ISO15189 and Health and Safety regulations; undertaking technical work to maintain the clinical and research service, and maintaining the highest standard of laboratory practice.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience in clinical laboratory histopathology and be state registered with the HCPC. They must have a BSc (or equivalent) in Biomedical Science, be aware of current safety legislation, and have, or be willing to develop, specialist skills in one or more of immunohistochemistry, frozen sectioning, automated and manual histopathological procedures, and clinical specimen preparation.

Core... Pathology is one of the Core facilities within the Blizard Institute. The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
