The analyst will support investment activities from deal sourcing to closing. Primary industry focus (but not limited to) will be climatetech/sustainability and fintech, including blockchain/Web3. The analyst will be an integral part of a small investment team (currently 4 people), and will have the opportunity to interact directly with senior executives at Rakuten and founders of portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities
• Deal sourcing: Attend conferences, network with other investors, and screen for attractive investment opportunities.
• Due diligence: Review due diligence materials, evaluate financial models and unit economics, interview customers and research competitors.
• Deal execution and negotiation: Participate in the negotiation process. Assist the team with term sheet and document drafting. Prepare internal memos for the investment committee. Coordinate with legal and various internal departments to close deals.
• Industry research: Perform in-depth market research to identify investment trends and understand competitive landscape.

Rakuten Advertising Legal team is seeking a Data Privacy Specialist who would report directly to the Director, Regulatory Compliance to help oversee and ensure our compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations across North America, , APAC and LATAM. This role sits within the Global Legal department and will work closely with various internal stakeholders, and interface with our Americas Regional Privacy office and Global Privacy Office in Japan.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:
• Driving the implementation and continuous improvement of internal privacy compliance programs, initiatives, policies, and procedures, including handling related documentation and reporting
• Supporting development and continuous improvement of standardized privacy compliance resources and tools for use across the business
• Monitoring privacy and data protection developments, as relevant to our industry and business initiatives
• Assisting with development, updating, and execution of privacy awareness and compliance training
• Coordinating with Information Security and Legal to support any incident response measures, as necessary
• Working closely with the relevant Rakuten Advertising business teams on communications and compliance with our onboarding requirements.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:
• Knowledge and understanding of US privacy laws and practices, including the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended. Knowledge of the EU's GDPR and e-Privacy Directive; CIPP or other privacy-related certifications and understanding of other privacy jurisdictions are a plus
• Ability to read and understand, regulations, policies, guidelines and industry standards and translate regulatory requirements into concrete business applications and actions (with support from Rakuten Advertising attorneys)
• Familiarity with computing and Internet functionality as related to privacy and information security;( AdTech knowledge and experience is a plus)
• Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects or tasks and to work independently
