Scope
As a Service Excellence Rep you need to know how to:
• Provide excellent customer service, greeting, assisting, and directing visitors and patients as well as strong coordination with Volunteers. Begin registration process by verifying pre-registration documentation and informing RN of patient arrival
• Identify key family/visitors and record their phone number and seating location in reception/waiting area. Keep track of family/visitors throughout the surgery/procedure experience (often six hours in length).
• Facilitate strong communication and coordination with Nurse Liaison, Volunteers and other Service Excellence Liaisons during shift.
• Maintain awareness of how to direct patients that do not show up in My Patients for Surgery and Interventional Services

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service environment (preferably in a healthcare setting)
• Proficiency with computer and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Bilingual proficiency (Spanish or other)

Physical Requirements:
• Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
• Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
• See and read computer monitors and documents.
• Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
• May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility (AWWU)
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION OF WORK: 3000 Arctic Boulevard Under the general direction of the Capital Assets Manager, the engineer will manage and coordinate the Utility’s Asset Management Team in the Engineering Division. The Team is responsible for many efforts including: the collection and analyses of infrastructure condition assessment data; review and analyses of the Utility’s Level of Service goals and performance; hydraulic analyses that optimizes operations of the water and sewer systems; infrastructure life cycle cost analyses of major projects; long and short-term infrastructure planning; and the Utility’s 6-year Capital Improvement Plan (completed annually).

To accomplish these programmatic efforts, the engineer will supervise a team of two (2) engineers and one (1) analyst and have managerial access to professional services contracts. With the assistance of their team, the engineer will be managing and reporting to the Capital Assets Manager and Engineering Division Director on multiple asset management projects from the professional services contracts.

The engineer will perform other related duties as assigned, including participation in major emergencies or disasters as outlined in AWWU’s disaster plan matrix, which defines each employee’s potential duties and responsibilities. This may include 12-hour work shifts, which may continue for 72 hours or more starting at any time an event might occur, seven (7) days a week, 24 hours per day.

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.

Substitution:
• A Master's degree in Engineering may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.
Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License by time of hire.

Preferences:
• Applicants registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Alaska.
• Applicants with a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate.
• Applicants have experience supervising technical staff.
• Applicants have experience in Civil Engineering and utility hydraulic analyses.
