We are seeking a full-time publicity assistant to assist the communications department by performing duties and offering creativity that supports and advances opportunities and relationships with the media, bringing greater public awareness of RTB, its message, and its resources. Responsibilities/Duties:

Research
• Seek out new interview venues via multiple research tools.
• Stay apprised of relevant/breaking pitch topics daily through monitoring resources such as HARO, podcast guests, daily emails from news and science outlets, etc.
• Vet new outlets who request an interview as well as vet recommended venues.
• Stay apprised of current best practices in media and research how to better reach our audience.
• Review recent interviews for the sake of sharing on social media and to offer feedback to scholars

Writing/Communication
• Assist Communications Director and Public Relations in writing/sending pitches. Create discussion/talking points for interviews.
• Assist Public Relations in writing press releases.
• Correspond with media personalities.
• Create confirmation sheets, bios, and all relevant details.
• Assist Public Relations with writing social media copy.
• Assist with other writing projects as assigned.

Data Management:
• Create/maintain media accounts in database.
• Create a detailed “smartsheet” for each interview.
• Assist in pulling targeted lists from database for pitches.

Scheduling:
• Predetermine scholar availability for interviews.
• Schedule interviews, collaborating with scholar and scholars’ assistants and RTB Media Department if applicable.

About the Role

Good Reason Houston’s Operations Associate will be responsible for scheduling high-stakes meetings for leadership team members, maintaining office operations and supporting internal team culture. This role will report to the CFO and work day-to-day with the People Operations team. This role will help the leadership team increase efficiency and maintain strong office operations (both in our Greenway office and virtually). The ideal candidate for this role has strong attention to detail, is comfortable managing tasks simultaneously, and is interested in gaining exposure to all organizational functions in a fast-paced, nonprofit environment. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Primary Responsibilities

Team Support (60%)
• Provide administrative support to Leadership Team including but not limited to scheduling of key external meetings, big internal meetings, quarterly or monthly inbox management, research, correspondence, invitation coordination and travel coordination
• Set up meeting materials, food and AV as needed
• Schedule organization-wide meetings such as retreats, and support coordination and planning of meetings with the People Operations team
• Support broader team in culture efforts such as birthday celebrations, employee appreciation initiatives/events, and other team engagement opportunities
• Assist in event coordination for cross-functional teams (such as fundraising and community outreach events)
• Answer and direct all calls; assist in greeting guests at office

Office Operations (40%)
• Maintain daily office operations including but not limited to opening & closing office, restocking supplies, ensuring a clean and functional office
• Manage office supply orders to keep supply room and kitchen fully stocked and operational
• Support team members and visitors with general office support requests or questions
• Support various technology systems to ensure team efficiency (Zoom line coordination/maintenance, conference room technology); assist teammates by troubleshooting technology issues
• Coordinate office maintenance, such as deep cleaning or repairs
• Manage parking allotments and validations with building management
• Work with Communications team to track inventory of swag available to be given to partners and funders
• Assist with operation functions related to onboarding and offboarding
• Maintain a strong filing and office organization system

Working at Good Reason Houston

Good Reason Houston offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The starting salary range for this position is $48,000 - $52,000 annually. New hires are offered a salary depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. Benefits offered include a 401(k) (automatic 3% employer contribution), life, medical, dental and vision insurance packages. Each employee accrues 35 paid time off days per calendar year in addition to the 19 paid holidays per year. Good Reason Houston is an office-based organization, but allows for virtual work on Mondays and Fridays.
