This role is part of our marketing team, where you will create content that promotes the use and understanding of RevenueCat for a technical audience, and help build out our developer relations function.
About you:
You have a passion for teaching and helping mobile developers. You have deep experience as a developer, ideally in a mobile environment, and understand the challenges teams and individual developers experience. You are excited about the opportunity to help developers build better apps and businesses. You have 5+ years of experience creating world-class developer-focused content.
Within the first month you'll:
• Learn the ins and outs of RevenueCat's product and how it works
• Learn about our developer community and how to best communicate with them
• Take inventory of our existing developer content, identify gaps, and start producing your first pieces of RC content
Within the first 3 months you'll:
• Create and execute on a plan that allows RC to effectively engage with the broader mobile development community outside of owned channels
• Create and maintain a developer content calendar, including sourcing and producing content aimed at educating, engaging, and growing our audience across channels
• Have developed and run playbooks that allow you to effectively repurpose existing content into new formats to increase reach and impact
Within the first 6 months you'll:
• Represent RevenueCat and speak at industry conferences and events, both virtual and in-person
• Assist with product launches by contributing technical content (video and written).
Within the first year you'll:
• Be able to quantify the impact of your work on RevenueCat's developer community, and are able to commit to - and deliver on - realistic, but ambitious goals
• Have a framework for continuing growth in the successful channels

About you:
• You love making products for developers.
• You have 5+ years of proven experience working as a Full Stack engineer.
• You are comfortable writing and debugging SQL, bonus points if it's PostgreSQL.
• You have experience building web applications with a JavaScript framework, React experience is a plus.
• You have experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs, Python experience is a plus.
• You are a collaborative builder and like to build systems with other engineers in mind.
• You don't scoff at unglamorous engineering tasks, yaks don't shave themselves.
• You are an excellent written and verbal communicator.
• You have deep empathy for the user.
• You know when to seek assistance, and it's typically to discuss tradeoffs.
• Experience building mobile apps is a plus.
In the first month, you'll:
• Get up to speed on our architecture and learn the problem domain
• Implement your first pull request and deploy to our 100's of millions of API consumers
• Begin reviewing code and add to our engineering culture
• Learn the complexities of in app subscriptions
• Get a basic understanding on how each store we support works and their main differences
• Have a running version of a sample app for each of the stores
Within the first 3 months, you'll:
• Learn the basics of incident response, and be part of the on-call rotation
• Make improvements to how we test, review, and ship code to improve quality
• Be able to work on core issues that are affecting most customers
• Understand our data model and events that we support
• Understand the feature gaps with each of the stores
• Gain deeper knowledge in at least one of the stores
• Learn how our SDK works
Within the first 6 months, you'll:
• Be the most knowledgeable person on one of the stores
• Help build and make changes to the RevenueCat dashboard
• Know all the major components of our system and be able to debug complex issues
• Have your own initiatives for improving the code base and our infrastructure
• Be able to detect bottlenecks, profile, and come up with enhancements
• Help us reduce the gap between the store functionality and RevenueCat
Within the first 12 months, you'll:
• Be able to spec, architect, and build any feature we might want to build
• Mentor other engineers joining the team
• Know more about PostgreSQL than anyone ever should
• Help plan and define the roadmap

• You work with your team to improve the quality of our products, ensuring that they meet product requirements, customer needs, and SLAs.
• You provide technical leadership to the team and can work with engineers to help guide them into important technical decisions.
• You have experience working with engineers at different levels and have coached them in their career development.
• Bonus: Experience building developer tools and working closely with customer support.
Responsibilities:
• Build and lead a highly engaged distributed team by hiring, supporting, coaching the team to deliver consistently and continuously seek ways to make an impact.
• Work cross functionally primarily with product, design and support teams to set direction for the team, anticipate strategic and scaling related challenges through thoughtful long term planning
• Work with your team on the iterative execution of the roadmap and build efficient & transparent processes for consistent and predictable delivery.
• Coach and mentor engineers on the team to further their professional development.
• Work with other engineering managers to continuously improve our organization & create a strong sense of ownership, belonging and inclusivity.
In the first month, you'll:
• Get up to speed on our current technical projects
• Meet every contributor on your team and understand what their areas of expertise are
• Work with your team and understand how we do iterative development and the team processes
• Work with your design and product peers to understand current team priorities.
• Schedule 1:1’s with your team to get to know them better
Within the first 3 months, you'll:
• Work with the product and design team and deliver the quarterly planning
• Work with your team to define milestones and deliverables and ensure that the team is shipping iteratively and update our 30/60/90 day plan.
• Work with your product manager and take joint ownership of the agile process and hold the team accountable for sprint commitments.
• Work with engineers on your team to understand their short term and long term goals and help them with their career planning and progression
• Work with the recruiting team and your peers to hire for the company.
Within the first 6 months, you'll:
• Have established and refined processes which enable iterative development and predictable delivery on the team.
• Understand the team dynamics and be able to predict team capacity around project execution and are now planning ahead for the team.
• Be an advocate for engineering teams to help advocate for technical initiatives and addressing technical debt while simultaneously working on product features
• Understand how RevenueCat is used by customers and the areas of focus for your team to help build a better customer experience.
Within the first 12 months, you'll:
• Have built domain knowledge and can easily debug, route and prioritize any incoming triage issues.
• You are now part of technical discussions and guide the team to come to an optimal solution.
• Have established clear communication guidelines within the team to enable open and honest communication
• Have helped bring in the right talent to RevenueCat through interviews, sourcing and screening for candidates who are aligned with our company values.
