Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Assistant Vice President, Student Success and Dean of Students. This is a full-time, calendar year, continuing position.

The individual will assist the Vice President for Student Success in the planning, administration, and leadership of the Division of Student Success, directing all staffing, educational, operational, facility, and budgetary aspects of Student Life. With the Associate Vice President for Student Services and the Dean of Enrollment, the Assistant Vice President for Student Success/Dean of Students will serve as a member of the Student Success Leadership Team. The AVP/Dean of Students will provide strategic planning and leadership as it relates to student life, provide leadership to a number of departments within Student Life, ensure a robust student life experience for students, serve as the chief student conduct officer, and promote health and wellness initiatives for students.

The AVP/Dean of Students is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the student conduct system and collaborating with campus stakeholders to lead a robust and educative system of student conduct administration. The individual will serve as an advocate for students by informing them of their rights and responsibilities with respect to RIC’s policies and procedures.

Since its founding in 1854, Rhode Island College (RIC) has been delivering a low-cost, high-quality education in innovative ways. As Rhode Island’s first institution of public higher education, the College has grown from its origins in teacher preparation to becoming a leading regional comprehensive college, with particular strengths in teacher preparation, social work, nursing, business, STEM, and liberal arts disciplines.

Required qualifications:
• Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education, or an appropriate combination of education and experience Minimum of seven years of student affairs leadership experience at a higher education institution. Substantive leadership experience with student life, student conduct, Title IX, and strong supervisory leadership. Strong evidence of exemplary experience with supervising multiple areas or departments Demonstration of leading change on campus with various stakeholders. Strong experience working with a diverse student body Strong organizational and managerial skills

Preferred qualifications:
• Doctoral degree Bilingual in English/Spanish (fluent in speaking and writing)

Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor, Cellular Biologist/Biochemist. This is a full-time, academic year, continuing tenure-track position.

The individual will teach “Cell and Molecular Biology (BIOL 320) as well as create and teach courses appropriate for new biotechnology program, designed to provide students broad training in all aspects of protein production, process development and quality testing. The individual will develop and maintain an active research program relating to any aspect of transitional research which engaged undergraduate and graduate (MA and certificate) students.

Rhode Island College is a mid-sized institution of about 6000 students located in a suburban setting in Providence. We service a diverse student population with over 40% of the undergraduates are students of color and over 45% are first-generation college students. Recently RIC was federally designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HIS). We seek candidates whose background, teaching interests, and research agenda will help foster diversity within the College. The Department of Biology offers Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Biology, Health Sciences and Medical Imaging as well as a minor in biology. We also have graduate program offering a M.A. and a Certificate of Graduate Study. In addition, the Biology Department provides courses that are taken by students in other programs across the campus, such as Nursing and Education. We are currently developing a Biotechnology program. Faculty within the Biology Department have the potential to access state wide funding opportunities. RI-EPSCOR and RI-INBRE. As a small state in New England, Rhode Island has much to offer with proximity to beaches, wooded areas, and the cultural and academic resources found in Providence and nearby Boston and New York.

Required qualifications:
• D. in Biological Science
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate instruction and to mentoring student researchers.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Effectively use available instructional technology and inquiry-based pedagogical methods
• Demonstrated research expertise and ability to work with undergraduates in a laboratory setting

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in an industrial biotechnology setting
• Evidence of effectively undergraduate teaching
• Established record of support of undergraduate and/or graduate research
• Experience with nontraditional students and with ethnically diverse student population
• Bilingual
