Rivier University invites applications for a newly established position: Director of General Education reporting to the Dean of Arts and Sciences. This is a twelve-month, full-time administrative position with a twelve-credit annual teaching load.

Duties and Responsibilities

The University seeks an experienced educator and innovative administrator with a passion for the liberal arts and experiential learning to direct Rivier's General Education program, which includes the Core Curriculum, Global Scholars, and Student Success programs with a focus on teaching excellence, learning assessment, and university-wide partnerships. The successful candidate should have significant interest in curriculum development and the creation of pathways for student success. The Director of General Education will work to ensure that the general education program supports the major programs of professional practice including nursing, business, and psychology. The director will be charged with working with full-time and adjunct faculty, leading Rivier's first year student success program, and developing quantitative and qualitative measures of learning success.

Typical Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a doctorate in the humanities or social sciences and 5 years of administrative experience including the supervision of faculty, teaching at the university level, demonstrated leaderships skills, and the ability to effectively contribute to the student learning environment. Duties and Responsibilities

To lead its Arts and Sciences Division, the University seeks an experienced educator and innovative administrator with a passion for the liberal arts, experiential learning and a fierce commitment to the University's mission of "transforming hearts and minds to serve the world." This individual should have experience in long-term planning and policy setting and the development of strategic initiatives, as well as strategies for strengthening the humanities and social sciences at Rivier.

The Arts and Sciences Division encompasses four distinct areas: science programs and sponsored research; the general education core curriculum: Journeys of Transformation; and computer science. As well as leading the Division, the Dean serves as the leader in the fourth area of humanities and social science programs, which encompass English, History, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Theology, Philosophy, and Sociology. The Dean will have primary responsibility for rolling out the newly designed B.A. in Humanities and Social Sciences. The Arts and Sciences Division serves an undergraduate population of nearly 1,000 and currently enrolls approximately 900 international students in computer science graduate programs.

Typical Qualifications

The University seeks an experienced educator and strategic administrator who will lead and support divisional directors and a dedicated faculty. The successful candidate should have significantly broad experience in the programs and initiatives incorporated within the Division, an understanding of the larger higher education landscape, and the ability to work across departmental lines to support student success. That individual will possess a doctorate in the humanities or social sciences and at least five years of administrative experience including the supervision of faculty, teaching at the university level, demonstrated leaderships skills, and the ability to effectively contribute to the student learning environment. Rivier University is accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month Resident Director. The Resident Director is a live-in position with duty rotation shared between a team of professional staff members. Responsibilities include community development, building and staff supervision, conduct counseling, crisis intervention and management, and assistance with the programmatic and operational functions for Residence Life and Housing. Remuneration includes an on-campus apartment, University medical and dental plan, full meal plan with flex cash during the academic year, in-room technology (internet, telephone and cable television/Roku), and tuition remission for all Rivier University classes (Masters Programs and Certificates only).

Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with department staff and students to create and maintain a living and learning environment that supports the mission of Rivier University and Residence Life and Housing.
• Actively assist in developing and implementing an intentional community development model that emphasizes student success and inclusive community programming and support.
• Establish an academic focused environment by creating campus partnerships, implementing initiatives, and providing tools to Resident Advisors that supports student social and academic success.
• Serve as an educator and general resource in a compassionate manner when intervening with students regarding a variety of issues including college transition, academic and personal experiences, roommate and/or floor conflicts/challenges, and mental health issues.
• Participate in an "on-duty" rotation to provide support for students and student staff. Being on duty may require quick on-site response throughout Residence Life and Housing facilities.
• Responsible for the training, supervision, and evaluation of student staff.
• Directly supervise and evaluate Resident Advisor staff. (may include summer staff) Hold intentional one-on-one meetings. Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings.
• Participate in and present training topics for Resident Advisors during fall/winter training and throughout the academic year.
• Ensure all safety, security, and maintenance needs are reported to appropriate personnel.
• Partner with one of the following areas: Student Engagement, Multicultural Education, Campus Ministry to provide programs and services within assigned area

Typical Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree and prior experience as a live-in staff member (RA or RD) or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired.
• Demonstrated deep interest in, and enthusiasm for, working with students;
• Highly developed skills in program planning and administration;
• Knowledge and understanding of computerized technology and social media;
• Demonstrated interpersonal ability to effectively work with individual students, student groups, and a wide variety of university and external constituents;
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills;
• General counseling, advising, and referral skills.

Supplemental Information

This is a full time, live-in position, including evenings and weekends. Some travel will be required as part of your professional development.
