The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, design practice research and professional capabilities relevant to the discipline and course areas taught. They will also be expected to actively promote the programs by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.
The Lecturer (Landscape Architecture) will be required to teach and conduct classes in disciplines relevant to their field of expertise and assist in the academic and administrative, consultative and coordination tasks involved with these courses. Functions associated with the position include presentation of lectures and tutorials, assessment of students and course administration in line with the University’s quality assurance requirements. They will also be required to undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy. It is expected that the Lecturer (Landscape Architecture) will work under support and guidance to develop expertise in teaching and research with an increasing degree of autonomy.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:
• Demonstrated excellence in design with distinctive and innovative design practice projects (either built through practice or original speculative designs).
• Demonstrated excellence in design teaching with a distinctive and innovative design studio teaching practice, curriculum and projects.
• Capacity to link disciplinary knowledge of built environments as well as natural systems to innovative landscape architectural design practice and/or project management across a range of scales.
• Ability to incorporate relevant digital technologies for integrating complex natural, cultural and social systems in design teaching, research and engagement
• Alignment of research focus with RMIT Landscape Architecture’s research trajectories.
• Recent engagement with landscape architectural practice and the profession.
• Ability to teach across course areas in landscape architecture.
• Potential to generate funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
• Evidence of research output including design projects (built or speculative), publications and public presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare, coordinate and teach programs at tertiary level, including the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
• Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.
• Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.

About You
This position is for a Lecturer (Landscape Architecture) with a broad capacity to undertake teaching, research and engagement across the programs in the landscape architecture discipline.
You will be able to articulate a developing research enquiry which addresses and responds in a designerly way to issues of national and international concern through the medium of landscape.
We are looking for a particular capacity to integrate digital technologies across teaching and research to expand the potential of these technologies within the discipline and profession through creative practice design approaches.
The Lecturer (Landscape Architecture) is expected to contribute to the teaching and research... efforts of the Landscape Architecture discipline and will be required to deliver courses within the field of landscape architectural design, in core course areas (including landscape architectural design studio, theoretical frameworks, environments and/or communications) and other course areas and participate in, and contribute to, the design culture broadly within the School and the University. This includes the ability to make connections across and between core areas of disciplinary knowledge and design across a range of scales.
