Job Summary

The Business Administrator, Sr. manages the assigned business functions including but not limited to providing support to the center faculty, staff and students. The Administrator provides complete support and management with grant, award, and all applicable fund types within center(s) providing administrative, accounting, complete proposal assistance, budgeting, active reporting, final reporting, and makes strategic recommendations to Principal Investigators (PIs) regarding award management. The Administrator provides timely processing, proactive management and proper open communication to keep PIs aware of fund status to ensure compliance at all levels at all times.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or similar field
• 5 years of relevant experience to include 3 years of work experience in the administration, monitoring and management of research and/or other closely related types of restricted funds
• Familiarity with federal and state government regulations as they pertain to research administration

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing the administrative and business functions for a complex university research center or department; including budget preparation, proposal preparation, financial management, and human resources activities

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to analyze and interpret reports, documents and statistical data.
• Ability to perform budget reporting and forecasting, as well as account reconciliation.
• Knowledge of financial software, including spreadsheet, database, and data warehouse applications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
• Ability to learn and/or use SCT Banner finance, position control and labor modules or other appropriate applications.
• Knowledge of fund-based budgeting.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work as individually or as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and diverse environment, and with diverse constituents.

Job Summary

The Planner for Space Utilization & Master Planning develops and presents space allocation alternatives in support of the space utilization program efforts, provides preliminary screening of viable projects, and validates space surveys and utilization. The Planner works closely with the Space Information Analyst to update the campus Space Inventory System. The Planner ensures projects align with Rensselaer policies and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Planning or closely related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in facilities management, facilities programming and project management

Relevant combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted for a degree.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read and understand general construction documents, specifications, and contracts
• Knowledge of construction mediums, tools, equipment, and standards.
• Working knowledge of architectural programming processes
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Must be familiar with design and project planning/scheduling and resource software applications, e.g. CADD, Microsoft Project, etc.
• Ability to work effectively with project representatives and workers from all fields

The administrative coordinator provides administrative support to the Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Education and coordinates day-to-day administrative activities for the office.
