As our enthusiastic and hardworking PRODUCTION ASSISTANT (TRUCK DRIVER), you will be responsible for (but not limited to):
• Manage time daily to ensure route is completed within the approved work schedule. Routes are to be 100% completed each day, without exception, unless approved by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
• Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of assigned truck. Assist in the safe loading or unloading of other trucks as requested.
• Handle all donated material with safe handling procedures and assigned personal protective equipment at all times. Donations must be handled properly to ensure they return damage free to their destination.
• Train, instruct and supervise truck helper in their WTA, keeping in mind that helper is in a rehabilitation program and that good personal and professional work habits are taught by example, as well as by instruction.
• All pre and post checks must be completed daily. Any exceptions found during the pre-check inspection must be reviewed by the Transportation Supervisor prior to operating the vehicle. Any post-check exceptions must be reviewed with the Transportation Supervisor prior to clocking out for the day. All equipment on the truck must be in working order and properly secured for transport.
• Promptly report to immediate supervisor all accidents involving truck, personal injury or property damage.
• Abide by all DOT regulations and state and local laws while maintaining a safe driving record. Attend all driver safety meetings as required.

Qualifications to be considered for this position:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Clean Driving Record.
• Strong time management and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate electronic equipment used for daily route information.

Schedule

SCOPE OF POSITION

The primary function of this position is to assist the Program Director with all aspects of the Summer Day Camp program. This includes maintaining the safety, health, happiness, discipline, cleanliness, character, and skill development of all camp staff and campers. Supervise all Summer Day Camp staff to carry out activities, promote camper participation. Oversee proper coverage of all aspects of the School's Out Summer Day Camp, including sports skills, arts and crafts, movements, educational concepts, musical concepts, and various games. The School's Out Summer Day Camp Director will assist with preparation for the SOSDC and wrap-up of the program at the end of summer.

The SOSDC offers programs for campers 5-14, as well as a "Staff-In-Training" program for staff 14 and 15 years of age. Must have the ability and desire to work with children, parents, volunteers and peers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative
• Provide oversight for Day Camp Counselors, including SITs and volunteers, as directed by the Program Director.
• Create Weekly and Daily Staff Assignment schedules, working with staff to accommodate necessary time off and ensure proper breaks and coverage of program needs.
• Maintain accurate group schedule for each camper group, including Day Camp Counselors that assigned to each specific group.
• Ensure accurate group head-count of registered campers at all times, recording all required statistical information for reporting and tracking.
• Maintain a safe working environment: report all facility defects/problems to the Program Director.
• Enforce all rules that pertain to the camp, children's program, and facility on a consistent basis.

• Enforce all Salvation Army policies, as well as any policies required by state or local government, and guidelines indicated in grants for the program.

• Report needed behavior contracts to Summer Program Director as needed.
• Recognize spiritual need of individuals, which may require referral to the officer/pastor.
• Will handle disputes with participants, parents, staff and campers in a professional manner with guidance of the as needed with coordination from Day Camp Counselors.
• Will communicate any camper, parent, or staff issues with the Program Director or Corps Assistant immediately. Follow up with appropriate documentation as directed.
• Will adhere to and implement discipline procedures, including necessary documentation and reporting, created for campers and staff, in cooperation with the Program Director.
• Will keep camper and staff issues confidential. Do not share issues with other campers, parents or patrons, news organizations or staff who are not involved.
• Will interface respectfully with staff, volunteers, parents, and campers of various socio-economic backgrounds.
• Enforce all rules that pertain to the camp, children's program, and facility on a consistent basis.
• Maintain a safe working environment: report all facility defects/problems to the Day Camp Coordinator.
• Assist in emergencies or treatment of injured participants or staff. Follow up with completion of appropriate paperwork as directed.
• Handle communication through phone calls to parents to confirm camp registrations and follow up on day-to-day situations.

Program
• Will be required to work a varying schedule, with some opening shifts each week (7am) and some closing shifts each week (7pm).
• Responsible for serving as direct Supervisor for half of the daily camper groups and associated staff and volunteers.
• Responsible to ensure proper coverage of assigned groups, including staff breaks and absences.
• Responsible to fill-in for Counselors as needed, during absences or breaks.

• Responsible for operation of the Camp Canteen, recording "sales" from camper balance sheets and reporting of income to Program Director. Responsible to submit supply order sheet to Program Director.
• Responsible to oversee "Ticket Store", helping campers redeem their tickets weekly for prizes.
• Serve as primary contact for counselors to assist with varying social/emotional and behavioral needs of campers.
• Facilitate any needed intervention for campers experiencing difficulty, including helping campers reset, take a break, redirect, etc). Report any additional need for help to Program Director or Corps Assistant.
• Assist with all elements of off-site activities, including meals, transportation, coverage, etc.)
• May be required to transport individual campers to the hospital in the event of an urgent medical situation.
• Drive The Salvation Army vehicles as directed by management to transport campers during off-site excursions. Follow all Salvation Army fleet procedures while driving and inspecting vehicles.
• Lead Morning Huddle with Program Staff and other staff groups as needed.
• Ensure proper PTM policies are being followed in all aspects of programming.
• Perform other assignments/duties as directed.
• Regular and punctual attendance is an essential job requirement.
• Flexibility and a cooperative spirit are crucial characteristics of the individuals who hold this important position.
