COOK / BAKER POSITION DESCRIPTION BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Child Nutrition Services Manager, prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity at an assigned junior high or high school site; assist in other food preparation duties for cafeteria and snack bar operations; maintain facilities in a clean and sanitary condition; train and provide work direction to others. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Cook Baker incumbents perform duties at a junior high school or high school food service facility. Incumbents cook, bake and assist in the more complex and varied food service estimation of food for daily service and provide lead direction to food service staff as assigned. Food Service Server incumbents perform basic and routine food preparation duties. Food Service Assistant incumbents assist in the preparation of food in a production kitchen as well as serving food and performing cashiering duties at a satellite location. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Prepare, heat and bake daily menu items and other baked goods according to daily attendance records; prepare and combine necessary ingredients. E Prepare, heat and cook daily entrees and accompaniment items according to daily attendance records; prepare and combine necessary ingredients. E Determine appropriate quantity of food items for cooking and baking; adjust and extend recipes as needed; maintain food quality standards including appearance, and nutritional requirements. E Monitor temperatures of food to assure safety and quality standards are met, monitor temperatures to assure proper temperature for sanitizing. E Serve food according to established guidelines and replenish serving containers as needed; serve and sell lunch items to faculty and students as directed. E Clean cafeteria equipment, utensils and appliances and store food supplies; assure compliance with kitchen sanitation and safety procedures and regulations; clean refrigerators and storerooms as required. E Assist in storing unused food and supplies; dispose of unusable leftovers; utilize proper methods of handling foods to be stored. E Operate a variety of standard kitchen utensils and equipment including slicer, chopper, mixer, steamer, dishwasher, electric warmer, range, oven, dishwasher and other cafeteria equipment. E Record amounts of food sold and moneys collected as assigned; assist with inventory and maintain routine records as directed; prepare records of foods cooked and foods left over. Train and provide work direction to others in the absence of the supervisor or as assigned. Assist in other food service areas as needed; collect money and make correct change. Perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and methods of quantity food service preparation, serving and storage. Sanitation and safety practices related to handling, cooking, baking and serving food. Methods of preparing and serving food in large quantities. Methods of adjusting and extending recipes and proper substitutions. Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Standard kitchen equipment, utensils and measurements. Health and safety regulations. Basic record-keeping techniques. Basic math and cashiering skills. ABILITY TO: Prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity at an assigned junior high or high school food service cafeteria. Prepare and serve food in accordance with health and sanitation regulations. Operate and maintain a variety of standard machines, ovens, and other equipment of school cafeterias and kitchens. Prepare attractive, appetizing and nutritious meals for students and staff. Follow, adjust and extend recipes. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Maintain routine records. Meet schedules and time lines. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Plan and organize work. Observe health and safety regulations. Train and provide work direction to others. Make change accurately. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years experience in cooking and baking food in large quantities. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Kitchen environment; subject to heat from ovens and stoves, cold from walk-in refrigerators and freezers. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Standing and walking for extended periods of time, moderate lifting up to 40 pounds, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate kitchen equipment, carrying, pushing or pulling food trays and carts, seeing to assure proper quantities of food, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally. HAZARDS: Exposure to very hot foods, equipment, and metal objects used in cooking and baking; exposure to sharp knives and slicers. Description

The Harker School seeks a Head Boys Varsity Soccer Coach for our Upper School Athletic Program. The season begins in March (2024) and runs through February 2025.

Pay Range : $25.00 - 33.00 per hour

Position Summary

Our coaches must be committed to the personal development of our student-athletes. This includes teaching them skills relating to the sport.

As a coach, you must also help students develop a competitive nature, teach them about ethical behavior good sportsmanship, and assist in developing leadership and life skills.
• Assumes the responsibility for safely and effectively managing groups of students
• Organizes practice plans and game plans
• Communicates effectively with AD, other staff, students and parents
• Stays informed regarding weekly sports emails, updated developments and changes
• Follows all guidelines as expressed in Upper School Coaches Handbook
• Completes miscellaneous tasks and duties as requested

Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Attends coaches meetings and mandatory seasonal parent meetings
• Ensures students are participating in a fair and sportsmanlike manner
• Ensures safety and decorum of students while traveling to away games
• Maintains knowledge of league, section, and state bylaws pertaining to their sport
• Provides guideance for middle and / or lower school programs where applicable
• Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
• Coaching students (Ages 13-19)
• Experience in or having a background in the sport interested in coaching

Working Conditions
• May be subject to extended periods of time standing or walking.
• Majority of time may be spent outside resulting in exposure to extremes in either heat or cold as weather and temperatures vary.

Qualifications

Qualifications
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience working with children preferred. Must be comfortable working with and around school-age children.
• First Aid / CPR certified
• 1-2 years of coaching experience (preferred)
