The ideal candidate is a welcoming individual with excellent communication and customer service skills and a desire to develop and grow Library programs and services. Under the general direction and oversight of the Associate Vice President for Student Success, the Director will be responsible for oversight, planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and participating in a balanced program of library services for students, faculty, and administration at South Dakota Mines. This key member of the Student Success Division will lead the development and implementation of a shared vision of having Library Services at the center of instructional, and cultural life at the University, and assure Library Services is an inclusive space for learning that is responsive to wide range of needs and supports the University's priorities to enhance the student experience.

The Director will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the daily operation of library services. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in library reference and instruction, operating within a progressive and modern library environment, and library administration, and be committed to the values and philosophy of the Division of Student Success.

Qualifications:

o A Master's Degree in Library and Information Science or a related field AND five or more years of professional experience in an academic library
o Ability to demonstrate progressive leadership, management, and supervisory responsibilities
o Proven ability to lead library staff in a collaborative management style
o Demonstrated fiscal responsibility
o Demonstrated experience in developing new programs and services based on recent developments and trends in library science, library services, community building, and technology

Position Description: The South Dakota Mines Energy Storage Laboratory (see lab webpage https://sd-mines-energy-storage-laboratory.webnode.com) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT or SD Mines) is looking for graduate students to join in the lab to do research in electrochemical energy storage (batteries, etc.).

The Overarching Goal of our research lab is to tackle challenges in the current generation and to foster innovations for next-generation electrochemical energy storage devices and systems. We collaborate with researchers and scientists worldwide in universities, research labs, and industries to bring scientific and technological solutions and innovations to real-world applications. One of the major missions of the lab is to train, mentor, and foster undergraduate, graduate, and postdoc students who will become the next-generation leading engineers, researchers, and scientists in the field of energy storage research and development.

Our Research Interests in electrochemical energy storage include:
• Primary lithium batteries, rechargeable Li-ion batteries, next-generation Li-ion batteries (Li metal anode, all-solid-sate), beyond Li-ion battery chemistries (Li-sulfur, Li-air), and supercapacitors (symmetric, asymmetric).
• The scope of our research includes fundamental, material-level studies (electrodes, electrolytes, separators) and integrated, cell-level investigations and optimizations.
